“Quaint, but very HOT”
Reviewed 22 August 2009

Nice hotel and pub. Heat was stuck on HIGH. Whew! One elevator and the hotel was very crowded. Be prepared to walk some steps.

Easy walking throughout the town area. The town itself was very modern and was expecting older. The walking tour, booked through the hotel was nice and even fun.

The Waterford factory was absolutely wonderful. Only need to see once though.

Just back from a 2 night stay in Granville in Waterford. What a lovely hotel, the rooms were nice and bright and the food was lovely i.e. breakfast and evening dinner. Some of the staff were friendly. Only criticisms we would have is that we stayed on the second floor and there is a section where you have to go up to go down and vice versa, not great when you have dodgy knees The parking situation is a nightmare and it ruined our stay worrying about the car which was across the road and if you weren't out by 11a.m. next morning you could be charged 1.80 euro one minute after. We arrived in the pouring rain and found the carpark very confusing as there was no indication for the parking bay for Granville hotel as there is no signs when you arrive. Not a carpark staff member to be seen anywhere. I could go on and on but all I would suggest is that the carpark authorities responsible for the quays should look further into this. There is no need to put extra unnecessary charges on people who want to come and stay or shop in the city centre. Waterford is a lovely place. We enjoyred Tramore and Dunmore East but we didn't enjoy our stay in the City Centre as we could find nowhere safe to park as there are double yellow lines all over the place and we wouldn't stay in the city centre again.

We stayed on a midweek special offer (2 nights B+B with 1 evening meal and 3rd night B+B free) and this was great value for money. We felt very welcome from when we arrived. All the staff were very good and very helpful. The rooms were excelent and the beds very comfortable. The breakfast was very good and the evening meal was fantastic. The hotel is across the road from the carpark and quay and is central to shopping. We had travelled by motorbike and the staff kindly let me park it it the hallway over night. i would recomend the Granville to anyone who was looking for a hotel in waterford.

We stayed here for one night with our kids , was passing through and decided to check out Waterford . The hotel is in a great location , on the quay with the car park across the road and shopping nearby . The lady on reception was excellant , they did not have a family room but gave us 2 double rooms , which worked out great . We felt it lived up to its 4* rating and would recommend any age to stay here . The rate for this hotel was very reasonable , the rooms were lovely and the food also.

Granville Hotel is in a great location. Great staff, great rooms, great service, reasonable rates. Try the Munster Bar for very good food.
There is parking across the street and the hotel covers the overnight rate. The hourly rate for for the remainder of the time is1.80 euros.

Myself and 16 others in our group recently stayed in the Granville Hotel in Waterford. We all had such a good time, the weather was beautiful but even in winter the hotel is so central (its very close to the railway and bus station) There are local buses every half hour and long distances every hour). The city centre is only 5 minutes walk away. Best of all the foot is excellent and the staff are the friendliest you could wish to meet anywhere in the world.
I am looking forward to going back.

Having read the reviews on this forum I was very apprehensive about booking this hotel. We booked two nights bed and breakfast and one evening meal. Check in was friendly and informative. Room was perfect with a lovely big bathroom. Breakfast was amazing. Buffet of juices, cereals, porridge, fresh fruit and yogurts. Then, had to decide on Full Irish Breakfast or fresh fish, cold meats and cheese or kippers. I had the fresh fish (plaice) which was delicious. Also included coffee, tea or herbal teas, toast, Irish soda bread, croissants and pastries. Hotel was buzzing, great atmosphere. Evening meal was really good, plenty of choice and great service. would recommend this hotel if you would like to be spoiled and to enjoy a real Irish Cead Mile Failte.
