What a fabulous castle, with views, history, authenticity, grand ambiance, and superb ingratiating help. I spent my birthday here, with my wife and good friends, and I couldn't have been nicer.

As promised we came back for a weeks break and stayed in the lodge next door to last year. This time we played Golf, great course that will test you. we ate in the club house and it was very good quality for both adults and children and the price was very reasonable. We found a quite beach called woodstown (go left at the lights when you come off the ferry and head toward dunmore east). We really enjoyed our stay

This hotel was just stunning! The employees were so helpful. The young woman at the front desk (Rachel i think) and the young man at the bar (sorry i cant remember his name) helped us so much. Rachel gave wonderful directions and suggestions and the bartender was so helpful in helping my husband pick out the most wonderful wine to go with our 25th Anniversary celebration dinner which was absolutely out of this world! The grounds are just dreamy. You can almost feel lost in time walking around the garden trails. The flowers were so beautiful! I did not want to leave!

Room Tip: being on a tight budget we could not be extravagant but even the least expensive room was georgeous!

Im not one to gush about hotels usually as i have to stay in allot of hotels for my work but on this occasion i really felt that i had to comment . Myself my husband, daughter (7) son (4 months) Mam and Dad recently stayed in the Lodges at Waterford Castle. From the moment you drive onto the Ferry across the river it feels that you are going to a magical place. The Lodges are clean, well equiped and very comfortable in a quiet area with a play area for children. We went to the Golf Club on the first evening for a drink as we arrived late and sat outside as it was a beautiful balmy evening. On the second day we were lazy so we strolled up to the Castle where we had Coffee and scones in a totally relaxed environment, we had a buggy and the staff were more than helpful helping us make room for the buggy and get through the door etc. We started to speak to the Manager Adrian who was very knowledgeable about the Castle, the area and generally a very nice guy. The highlight however was the meal we had that evening in the Castle bar. We had not booked anything and the Castle was very busy so we took a chance and returned to the bar where Eugene (i hope i have his name correct) was more than happy to get us a table ready in the bar. Again Adrian was working and they were more than happy to see us return (baby in toe) .. We stayed for hours and had a most memorable delicious meal in the most comfortable relaxing atmosphere we have encountered for a long while.. Well done to Adrian and his staff for making us feel welcome, we totally enjoyed our stay and we "will be back"..........Thank you

.Beautiful genuine Castle. Going over the ferry added to the adventure. The staff are very helpful and professional. We were not given the room we had booked but were changed very promptly. The room was spacious and bright if a bit tired looking. It could have done with a bit of a brush up as it was quite scruffy in places. The food was excellent and the service impecable. The grounds are nice but a bit unkempt. The club house at the golf club is open to guests and is so much cheaper for food and drink than the hotel. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room would be an advantage.

You arrive by ferry, because the castle is on an island. The castle is small as castles go, but lovely and gracious. We were entracned by our quiet encounter, in the back parkland, with a herd of small European deer.

The staff were terrific. They asked us straight off at what time we would like dinner, and we choose to eat in the bar, which proved a very wise choice when Eugene whisked a white tablecloth over our coffee table and proceeded to serve us a delicious meal. When I complimented the choice of music, little did I suspect that, upon our departure the next morning, I would be handed an envelope with five CDs that Eugene had made for our trip!

The Island location makes you feel special before you even arrive. The Castle is simply breathtaking. The rooms were spacious and fine for families. And the golf course had a fun driving range. The grounds were great for the kids to explore. Very memorable sty.
