Gave is a room in the lodge. This is a townhouse. 3 small bedrooms, queen beds.
one TV in downstair livingroom.
Very modern. Not being from Ireland had no cell phone. NO PHONE IN UNIT!
Slept 6 we were two and not used to queen size beds.
Did have a wonderful kitchen which was of no use to us and a washer and drier with no directions. Luckily I found a maid who helped me with TV, coffee pot and washing machine.
Good for European families.
Got into main hotel second night. King bed. Nothing special. At least we had a phone turn down service and bathtub, No separate shower.
Staff was wonderful here and all thoughout Ireland.
NO SPA ir Fitness center or pool.

Room Tip: superior dulux rooms or above. Hotel with 5***** ratings

Dear Guest,

I was sorry to hear that there were elements of your stay at Waterford Castle Hotel & Golf Resort that did not meet your expectations.
Our Management team have taken your comments regarding the lack of information in our Castle Garden Lodges on board, & are working on ways to improve our communication of this to future guests,
Waterford Castle is located on it's own private island, surrounded by an 18 hole golf course, with beautiful nature walks, wildlife & scenery is an ideal place to relax, it does not have Spa facilities however we do offer in room beauty treatments that can be arranged from our front desk.
I was happy to hear that our staff did everything to help you enjoy your stay with us.

If you would like to contact me personally to discuss your stay in further detail please don't hesitate to do so,

With Kindest Regards
Joanna Hannick

This was our third summer at the lodges in Waterford Castle, and once again we, and especially the kids loved it. The accommodation is top notch, and the island gives such a safe feeling for the kids. The only glitch was the late check-in - it's 4 o'clock normally, but they were running way behind, and we didn't get our keys until 7 o'clock, which was a bit of a nightmare. Anyway, they apologised, and took half of the first night's cost off our bill. Met loads of people returning for their second or third time, and everyone agreed that it's the best self-catering accommodation in Ireland. I think we will be back next year.

Room Tip: Ask for end of terrace when booking

My family rented out the entire castle a few years ago to celebrate my father's retirement. The staff in the castle were extremely accommodating from start to finish. They yurned the conservatory area into a games room for my younger cousins, and we had a musician accompany us in our sing-songs in the bar. There are wonderful homely touches everywhere. I enjoyed cosying up at the fireplace reading one of the many books from their shelves. The baths are to die for! I am tall and it was wonderful to relax in a deep bath. They can arranged for beautiians to come to the island to preen your party too. The food is both a visual and taste sensation. It was an idyllic stay. I would recommend it for family retreats as it is luxurious yet small enough to rent completely for yourselves
(unlike Adare Manor).

Say hello to their pet fox - but he bites!

I was really looking forward to my stay here and initial impressions were good. Unfortunately this was as far as I got. We were shown to our room which was noisy and the floor vibrated. We were told that the noise and vibration were due to the kitchen fans and they would go off about 11pm and not come on until breakfast. The vibration could be felt through the bed!. This was not what I expected from a hotel that is relatively expensive for the area. The staff were unable to provide an alternative room as the hotel was full but offered us the opition of waiting to see if other guests failed to arrive in which case we could have their room. I declined this offer. All in all the most expensive hotel of our trip and the worst room by an infinite amount. The room by the way was the Burns Room.

What a fabulous castle, with views, history, authenticity, grand ambiance, and superb ingratiating help. I spent my birthday here, with my wife and good friends, and I couldn't have been nicer.

As promised we came back for a weeks break and stayed in the lodge next door to last year. This time we played Golf, great course that will test you. we ate in the club house and it was very good quality for both adults and children and the price was very reasonable. We found a quite beach called woodstown (go left at the lights when you come off the ferry and head toward dunmore east). We really enjoyed our stay

This hotel was just stunning! The employees were so helpful. The young woman at the front desk (Rachel i think) and the young man at the bar (sorry i cant remember his name) helped us so much. Rachel gave wonderful directions and suggestions and the bartender was so helpful in helping my husband pick out the most wonderful wine to go with our 25th Anniversary celebration dinner which was absolutely out of this world! The grounds are just dreamy. You can almost feel lost in time walking around the garden trails. The flowers were so beautiful! I did not want to leave!

Room Tip: being on a tight budget we could not be extravagant but even the least expensive room was georgeous!
