We stayed at the hotel last month for one night and wished that we had stayed longer, the property is in a quiet area that is a short walk to the center of town. The staff especially the girls at Reception were wonderful and so helpful and accommodating! We arrived before checkin and was told that it would be no problem to check in, that they would set a room for us straight away and they were full the noght before. I wish that Waterford was has good as the hotel, they are trying to up lift the city now but the people and the restaurants are wonderful.

The Waterford Castle was gorgeous. The 2 minute ferry over is easy and a bit magical as it transports you to this wooded island (with a golf course that was lovely as well). The lobby feels like a large manor room with a beautiful fireplace and stylish antiques. The room had great details like the windows, wardrobe and the bathroom but the bed itself was not all that comfortable and should be updated.

We had dinner in the upscale dining room and it was delicious although our service was just ok. We also enjoyed a beer at the bar after which was very well decorated and the barkeep was very friendly. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are in Waterford.

Traveling with two couples and we wanted to stay in a castle, compared to other castle stays we saw available it appeared to be the best value, whilst still not being inexpensive. We had an amazingly delish dinner, and the staff were all very friendly but Boone really knew anything about the castle or it's history. They have a printed one page description but it's hard to get anything beyond that.

The rooms were decorated very nicely with old style furniture. The beds were two twins pushes together which generally I'm not a fan of anyway but to top it off one side was really dented in and we ended up sleeping on just the one mattress.

I would still highly recommend the experience, but would hope that management might make a few changes to make the experience top notch.

My husband and I arrived for one night, loved the ferry ride over and the long, tree lined drive where we saw deer as soon as we pulled in. A young gentleman brought our luggage up to our room and took our car to the car park for us. Derek, in the bar, was very helpful selecting drinks and food. Our supper was supurb as was our room. We had scones and tea in the bar the next morning--the best. We enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Suir Suite

The setting could not be finer, the only hotel on a private island reached by ferry, and the castle is in tremendous shape after a re-model almost 200 years ago. The foyer takes your breath away, and the rooms are all unique and beautifully outfitted. The bathrooms are bigger than many other complete hotel rooms. The early bird dinner was well worth the price.
No time to play golf, but it would have been sensational. Once in a lifetime experience.

Room Tip: Pay a little more for a suite; you get so much more space/amenities.

Gave is a room in the lodge. This is a townhouse. 3 small bedrooms, queen beds.
one TV in downstair livingroom.
Very modern. Not being from Ireland had no cell phone. NO PHONE IN UNIT!
Slept 6 we were two and not used to queen size beds.
Did have a wonderful kitchen which was of no use to us and a washer and drier with no directions. Luckily I found a maid who helped me with TV, coffee pot and washing machine.
Good for European families.
Got into main hotel second night. King bed. Nothing special. At least we had a phone turn down service and bathtub, No separate shower.
Staff was wonderful here and all thoughout Ireland.
NO SPA ir Fitness center or pool.

Room Tip: superior dulux rooms or above. Hotel with 5***** ratings

Dear Guest,

I was sorry to hear that there were elements of your stay at Waterford Castle Hotel & Golf Resort that did not meet your expectations.
Our Management team have taken your comments regarding the lack of information in our Castle Garden Lodges on board, & are working on ways to improve our communication of this to future guests,
Waterford Castle is located on it's own private island, surrounded by an 18 hole golf course, with beautiful nature walks, wildlife & scenery is an ideal place to relax, it does not have Spa facilities however we do offer in room beauty treatments that can be arranged from our front desk.
I was happy to hear that our staff did everything to help you enjoy your stay with us.

If you would like to contact me personally to discuss your stay in further detail please don't hesitate to do so,

With Kindest Regards
Joanna Hannick

This was our third summer at the lodges in Waterford Castle, and once again we, and especially the kids loved it. The accommodation is top notch, and the island gives such a safe feeling for the kids. The only glitch was the late check-in - it's 4 o'clock normally, but they were running way behind, and we didn't get our keys until 7 o'clock, which was a bit of a nightmare. Anyway, they apologised, and took half of the first night's cost off our bill. Met loads of people returning for their second or third time, and everyone agreed that it's the best self-catering accommodation in Ireland. I think we will be back next year.

Room Tip: Ask for end of terrace when booking
