Almost an accidental visit.

A little way out of town but this was by far the best place to stay.

We were a party of ten. We stayed "out back" in the condos, not the actual castle. When we went to have a snack and drink at the castle, there was not enough room for us; so they set us up in the front room with the cozy fireplace. No complaints here - we found it quite relaxing.

The service was friendly, well above average and we were thrilled with our stay overall. With that said; For ten, we paid $358 euro total to stay for one night (for two condos). Our "snack" consisted of cold sandwiches and drinks (2 drinks each). Our small dinner bill came to 450 Euro. Drinks were 12 euro each.

If not for the high price for bar food and two drinks each, we would have been 100% satisfied with our stay. We spent 8 full days/nights in Ireland and stayed in two other castles. Waterford Castle is overpriced in regards to food/drinks.

The grounds: nice, quiet and deer are everywhere. We enjoyed a walk or two around. Would stay here again but probably not rely on their food service for our meals.

We stayed here as a bit of a treat given the gorgeous location and the chance to stay in a beautiful castle.

A short car-ferry ride over to the castle and very impressive grounds. We had an executive room which included a lounge room, big bathroom, and huge bedroom. Cleaning was a little average, but it was mostly clean.

The staff were quite stand-offish and not really friendly, and the food overpriced - we ended up eating in Waterford central rather than at the castle.

The location was sensational - we wandered around the grounds and it was so peaceful and quite relaxing. Would recommend for a special occasion.
