We arrived early and exhausted from our overnight flight to Dublin and drive to Waterford. The staff was wonderful and as kind as anyone could be. The staff took our bags and parked the car and then led us to a beautiful fairyland room. We stayed to the Suir Room and it was large, beautiful and had a wonderful view. After a nap in a very comfortable bed, we wandered the beautiful grounds and then ate wonderful dinner. After a fabulous night sleep, we had Breakfast. The buffet before the hot breakfast was incredible. We were pampered from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. Staying in this castle was the perfect was to start our Ireland experience. I cannot recommend The Castle Waterford enough!!!

The hotel is pretty enough but could use a little updating and some new carpeting. Service is good and our dinner in the restaurant was enjoyable but not memorable. We walked around the island and although we were prepared for it to be muddy, it was not so pleasant for other reasons - hard to avoid the golf course, lots of insects, an unattractive water line. It was a fine stay for one night but we would have been bored with more, and I can't imagine that we would return to this hotel (or to Waterford, for that matter).

Dear Reviewer
Thank you for taking the time to share your views. I would like to assure you that updating is ongoing. I was pleased to read that food and service was enjoyable and that it was a fine stay for one night. I am sorry to hear of the other reasons that made it not so pleasant and indeed were not to your liking. I do hope that you will reconsider your stance on a return visit to Waterford Castle.
Kind Regards

This is a great hotel with an amazing golf course. I couldn't recommend it more. The bar staff in the clubhouse were lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We looked around the course but didn't play a round. It looked great though.
We went on a couples break and the hotel was perfect and relaxing.
We were also told about the adventure breaks they offer and would love to return for one.

arrived at the castle exhausted from a long day of travel in stormy weather ... and was pampered from that moment forward ... the bellmen took my bags and parked my car ... The place has a fantastic natural beauty with the parks, forest and animals (the kids loved the deers). The ferry is so handy and you hardly need to wait.
The personel is very kind and they do care about the customers: we had a couple of issues with our lodge and they did their best to solve them and offered us a compensation.
We will look for another opportunity to enjoy it properly.

The chef here takes special pride in sourcing ingredients from as many local suppliers as possible. Fish, meats and vegetables are all as fresh and flavoursome as can be imagined. These are transformed into superbly flavoured and beautifully presented dining experiences in a magical location. My wife and I have had the pleasure to eat here on a number of occasions, both with family, friends and work colleagues; we have always had a wonderful time, savouring the food, surroundings, dining room and bar areas. Hopefully we will have an occasion at some stage to stay in the hotel and experience the breakfasts too!

We spent two nights in Waterford in early March, courtesy of a voucher which was a gift for our wedding anniversary. The hotel is unusual in that it is on an island, and you reach it by a short trip on a ferry - no sooner on the ferry than off it again, but it gives the place a special feeling of being away from it all. We had both been looking forward to this break, after a two week long bout of flu, and the hotel did not disappoint. Our room was not huge, but extremely comfortable and well serviced every day. The windows are the original windows, with stone surrounds, which we were afraid might make the room cold, but the heating was on all the time and very efficient. Big fires in the hall and lounge/bar made it all very cosy, with lots of comfy sofas and chairs. Breakfast was very good indeed, and service overall was excellent.

We had dinner on our first night, it was absolutely delicious. The next day we went for a walk around the grounds, but the ground was very wet and muddy which limited us a bit. By the end of that day it was snowing heavily, and although we went into Waterford, we were back around 9pm, which was just as well, because some of the staff and two people who had been there for a meal were marooned by the weather later on in the evening.

On our first night, we went out for the evening and arrived back about 1.45am to see no sign of the ferry being in action at all. We thought it would probably go at 2am but nothing seemed to be happening. I phoned the hotel, there was no reply, then I phoned a number which is on the ferry noticeboard on the mainland side - it was answered straight away and the ferry came over at once. Our second night, it had snowed very heavily and the road to the ferry was completely covered, it was a bit nervewracking driving on and off, but we made it!

The hotel staff were excellent, all very friendly. When it snowed so heavily, I did rather hope that we might be stranded there and "forced" to stay another night, but sadly that did not happen!! I would highly recommend this hotel, and will hopefully return again.
