“not great!”
Reviewed 1 August 2013

Although the location is close to town and shops the hotel itself is very run down. The sheets on the bed seemed clean but the bed felt very damp and solid as a rock, had an awful nights sleep!..the carpet was absolutely filthy!!..i had to go wash my feet again before i went out after just having a shower!! it is cheap if you just wanna put your head down for the night but in my opinion i wouldn't bother again!

Perfect for when you just need a place to stay. Gave it a plus for a few reasons. The free wifi and the consistently clean and functional rooms. The staff are always very helpful and friendly. The prices are generally fair enough too. The only downside to the place was the reception. It feels like you're going to prison!

Stayed in waterford for a party. Travelodge was no frills. The rooms where clean, comfortable .
The room was cheap the Ryan air of hotels you know your not getting the Hilton but everything was clean and functional . The staff where very friendly and helpful. This spot is ideal for people who just want to put the head down . The Travelodge is only a ten min walk form the centre of town which is handy. Overall im glad i stayed there after reading some reviews here and i had no complaints.

We stayed at the Travelodge for one night en route for West Cork via Waterford from Dun Laoghaire.

The instructions on the website say it is on the N25 but the N25 is now a bypass so we went some miles out of our way trying to find the old road.

The car park was full of motorbikes and geriatric rockers but they didn't cause any trouble.

The room was somewhat cramped and the bed springs went boing boing but it was clean and we slept quite well.

The bathroom ceiling was covered in mould :-( but the equipment was clean and so were the towels only they were hard and well past their sell by date
There's some noise from other rooms, slamming doors etc and some noise from a 24 hour McDonald's next door.

As Eddie Rocket's diner has burnt down the area is boarded off and on arrival looks offputting.

If one doesn't eat at McDonald's there is only a Chinese restaurant within walking distance with only about 3 parking spaces.

We drove out to the Viking hotel but had a poor experience there (see separate review)

I think if we go this way to Kinsale again I would try to find somewhere else that takes well behaved dogs. I wouldn't rule out staying here again but it's a poor location.

This hotel has the standard Travelodge look but inside the rooms are quite large and comfortable with all the usual amenities. The one snag with this hotel was that, whilst the best rooms are on the first floor there is no lift so seniors or the not so fit have to stay on the ground floor. The staff were quite helpful and pointed us in the direction of local attractions and eateries. It is only a reasonable walk into the town of Waterford. The hotel has a good car park and is very convenient if you have a car. A good value budget hotel.

Room Tip: First floor rooms are better that ground floor rooms and quieter.

My first experience on entry of this Travlelodge was unsetteling to say the least, I should have listed to my instincts and turned heal straight out if there.
Firstly the young man in reception tried to over charge us. When we questioned the price he laughed and claimed it was "a joke" he then went on to tell us how many people he "had got" with that joke that same day.. I fail to see the humor here and can't help wondering would he have corrected the error if we hadn't questioned it? Although, the sheets and pillow cases were clean..the bed was terribly uncomfortable the room itself was shabby and very run down. The bathroom was equally run down with fittings coming away from the wall. The lodge is no more than a very large porto-cabin.. We had no sleep due to the noise of people opening doors, flushing toilets and walking over head.. A 24hour McDonalds next door added to our missery as cars coming and going all night was equally disturbing. This building is not fit to accommodate guests.. I wouldn't board my dog in it. Avoid at all costs.
