The rooms are very old fashioned and out of date. Room 73 has a tiny bathroom and there was barely room to take a shower. The lighting is very bad. Old furniture, carpet and curtains.
Eventhough there are lifts you still have to use stairs to access some rooms - awkward when trying to carry heavy suitcases.
We stayed two nights and paid €198. Dinner was included. I felt this was very over priced.
Don't bother with the breakfast.
The bacon was cremated, the brown bread was very hard and the eggs were raw and oily.
We received a 9am wake up call from reception. This was not ordered!!

Me & my boyfriend stayed here In August. Although the hotel is very big it was very busy. When I rang to book I spoke to a girl called Rachel. She was so plesant and helpful even though I must of been on the phone 15 mins quizing her on Waterford and the hotel. We stayed 2 nights and had dinner one night and breakfast. Dinner was excellent service was very efficent and good quality. Beakfast was buffet and very hot & fresh. Chris a manager or supervisor was very approachable and helpful also. All staff seemed friendly and felt welcoming. The city is small but very cultural. Nice walks and waterford crystal a magical building. Nightlife good, we went to Harvey's was reccommended and very enjoyable.Overall I cant fault the staff, decor slightly dated but very clean so I cant complain. I would reccommend the hotel to anyone who enjoys home confort and friendly staff who will have a chat with you.

Room Tip: Our room faced the river and was nice for the view

Sometimes the best finds are totally by accident. We arrived in Waterford with no accommodation reservation. We went to the Tourist Information Office but we got there 2 minutes after it closed. Adjacent to the quay-front Tourist Office was Dooley’s Hotel. As we were tired and had no idea where to go, we inquired about availability and were told that they in fact had rooms available. We were quite impressed with our room as soon as we saw it, and immediately booked a second night. Although the view of the “courtyard” was bleak, the room was very quiet because of it. I would imagine that street/river view rooms would be much noisier. The beds were quite comfortable and the towels were amazing. Several bus tours were staying at the hotel, but they put us in a separate wing of the hotel, so we weren’t wakened early by the departing travelers. The first night we ate in the Dry Dock Pub. The food was very good and reasonably priced. Breakfast both mornings was very good with lots of variety. The porridge was fantastic. The hotel has 113 rooms, a bra/pub and a full service restaurant, but feels much smaller. According to information in the wall the hotel was completely renovated in 1997, but everything looked much newer. The only drawback was that we had to pay for Wi-Fi and the charge only was good for one device.

This hotel was our second in Ireland and we enjoyed our stay for two nights, the view of the quay is nice but you will get some noise from street traffic. Hotel parking is the public parking across the street and there are a large number of spaces, be sure to get your token from the hotel for their good discount. They did not offer this to us, but we knew and asked. Our room was nice size, clean with king bed, TV was old and outdated with poor selection. The hotel staff was very friendly and helped to make our dinner and tour reservations. The Breakfast was standard Irish Breakfast, but good. Would have liked a better selection of rolls/pastry. Be sure to eat after the tour groups so service is better and the buffet is not so crowded.
On Thursday evenings during the summer the hotel has a very good Irish dance show
The Hotel is within walking distance to the Waterford display, Bishops Palace and a good walking tour of the old city and many good restaurants. Would go back even with the tour groups and some street

We have just returned from a tour of Southen Ireland and this was a first trip to Waterford and Dooley's Hotel. I had e-mailed the hotel before visiting to ask for a quiet room. In the event, this was anything but. Our room was on the first floor overlooking a back street. The room itself was comfortable, with clean linen and good housekeeping generally. However the bathroom was very shabby and seriously in need of an upgrade. The extras provided were very basic pump-action shower gels and soap.

At night our room lit up like the illuminations from the shops, street lamps and restaurant across the road. My husband and myself climbed on a chair and tried to block out the light using the bed-runners, folding them over the curtain pole, with some success. Also, after a day trip out, on returning at 3.45pm, we and our fellow passengers found our rooms had not been cleaned and two of the non-Irish chambermaids were busy " chin-wagging" on the landing, oblivious. Particularly galling was that some the passengers were disabled and obviously in need of a lie-down/rest/bath.

As for the food, it was generally felt that the breakfast was sufficient with not a lot of variety, however, after a shaky start the two evening meals we had were plentiful and well-cooked.

After a fantastic hotel stay in Killarney, this was a disappointing end to our tour.

Room Tip: Apart from sending a nice e-mail(which I did) possible asking for a higher floor may be better.
