Nice location with easy access to all historical sites, but the hotel is swamped with tour buses. As a party of two, we really wished we had stayed at another place. The place only has one elevator, which was often tied up with bellboys taking luggage up and down for the tour buses. The parking lot across the street is convenient. Our room was up a couple of floors from the kitchen so we smelled food cooking all the time. The rooms are getting old and shabby looking and it appears it is time for some updating. Breakfast was not good. While the staff tried to make it pleasant, the American tourist made their job very difficult.

I stayed here one night. The room was small. I had a terrible view of the back of another building and a loud machine right outside my room. When I opened my window to get air it smelt of mold and other rotten smells. The room smelt horribly like cigarettes. The breakfast was very good. It was about a 10 minute walk to The House of Waterford Crystal. If you park in the car park across from the hotel or down the road make sure you have coins.

... it is just a shame about the pillows!

We had a two night-plus-dinner special, and could not have asked for better service, better value or a better location. We arrived by bus, and were delighted to discover that it was just across the road from the bus stop and the river.

Our room - once we found it, up the elevator and then up and down short staircases and through doors and around corners, was spacious and clean. We don't travel light, so negotiating bags through the halls was a challenge, but also part of the charm.

Breakfasts were superb - from the mixed-berry compote and greek-style yogurt to the soda bread and sausages - and the dining room staff were surprisingly attentive.

Overall, we were pleased, but the bed, pillows and lighting could use an upgrade.

Room Tip: If you travel light, this hotel is a gem!

When entering Waterford, I was able to locate the hotel easily with parking right across the street. The people at the reception desk were very friendly and was able to make my stay thoughtless. The food in the bar/lounge was delicious with friendly staff.

This is an old hotel with no air conditioning. We had to call to the front desk to get the band to quiet down so we could get some sleep. The hotel was clean, but we had to go down a set of stairs after we went up a flight of stairs to get our room. I would not recommend this hotel

I attended a function at Dooleys Hotel last Friday night. Being vegetarian my hopes are never high for a decent meal on these occasions and I expect to have little or no choice. I was so surprised to have a choice of Vegetarian Lasagne or Risotto on what was a set menu. I had the Risotto and it was absolutely delicious and it made my night to have as good a meal as my colleagues who also raved about their choices. Thank you Dooleys for using a little bit of imagination and making this old veggie feel welcome. Incidently everything else was just as excellent making fror a really lovely evening in the heart of Waterford. I will be back and will certainly eat here on a more regular basis.
