Very interesting historical area. We really enjoyed walking around and reading all of the blue signs on the walls explaining what we were seeing.

“We came, we saw, we conquered!”
Reviewed 31 August 2013

If you are trekking in Ireland and in the Southeast- Waterford,, be sure to see the three museums that make up the Viking Triangle...Reginald's Tower, the Bishop's Palace and the new Medieval Museum (Chorister's Hall). When you buy your tickets, get them at the Bishop's Palace as the price for the 3 is less if you buy all 3 at Bishop's Palace. Start then at Reginald's Tower, a very short hop down the street, it tells the early conquest and development of the city with its Viking roots...then see the Bishop's Palace which has fabulous, old Waterford Crystal, then to the new Medieval Museum, right in back of the Bishop's Palace, it is great with fabulous gold vestments found in a chest, hidden away and now on display. It really explains a lot of the history of Ireland, why the battles continued between England and Ireland, the divide between the Catholics and the Protestants. Then see the Waterford Factory right across the street...book the tour early to see later, it is fantastic. The sales room is gorgeous. We stayed at the Waterford Marina Hotel, a very short walk away.

“Area is coming together nicely”
Reviewed 18 August 2013

This area is a must visit if you are coming to Waterford. It is still in the making, with the streets being repaved this summer (2012). The atmosphere is emerging with brilliant museums, tourist sites (Waterford Crystal) and cultural sites (Theatre Royal, and now Red Kettle) , great festivals (Harvest, Winterval, Spraoi and other small ones throughout the year. Some nice restaurants but still sparse retail.
