We went to the Gingerman for lunch, and enjoyed it so much that we returned the next day for a drink.
We were served at the table for lunch. A charming member of staff brought menus over and took our order, although I had already bought drinks from the bar as we were thirsty on a very warm day. We both chose shepherd's pie and we expected a small dish of pie with maybe a small garnish of vegetables or salad on the side. But we were very much mistaken! What we received was a huge plate of food with a good serving of the pie itself, accompanied by a mound of cabbage and carrots along with two scoops of champ mash. We loved it, although we struggled to eat it all because there was simply so much food.
The Smithwicks and Metalman Pale Ale were very good, and the lunch was very reasonably priced. The only negative was that my wife's first choice, bacon and cabbage was sold out! Not to worry though, as she declared that the shepherd's pie was a more than adequate replacement!
