“Wonderfully welcoming!”
Reviewed 3 September 2014

I have been to Waterford several times now travelling on my own and always make a point of staying here. The welcome received by the reception staff is always a credit to the owners - efficient, friendly and informative. The period style of the hotel is something that i love it makes a refreshing change to staying in a more 'traditional/cookie cutter style' hotel. One of the main things to rave about here though is the restaurant, excellent foods and wines. The chocolate pot on my last visit was amazing! Keep up the great work everyone; I’m sure I’ll be back soon! If you are making a trip to the area I would highly recommend staying here.

Stayed here for one night although i was booked in for 2. Not the hotel's fault per se it was the booking parties behind the scenes messed up.
However they gave me their best suite as an apology. It rocked, lovely old Georgian room massive bed, bay window with a cracking view and large bathroom.
The bar and restaurant was great for food, they were very accommodating and helpful.
Breakfast was a fantastic experience the following morning.
To me its the kind of place you would take the wife or so for a romantic weekend away or a special occasion.
The only downsides are
1. its hard to find - your can almost trust google and
2. about a 20 minute walk at least into city centre

Room Tip: Its so quiet i wouldn't know if you wouldn't get a good nights sleep. I can confirm the Sui...

A lovely old world hotel, small enough to make you feel that this is your private hideaway. The staff are vert friendly and helpful, and the French chef is excellent. We have visited this hotel before and still very good and as expected. The main rooms are well decorated, but the bedrooms are a little tired. Frayed towels, curtains need repair and suede chairs a little baldy but comfortable. The shared driveway is a bit potholed so watch your suspension! bikes for hire E10. Lovely view across the gardens to Reginald's Tower, but too far to walk to city centre. But you don't need to, as food is soooo delicious. Well worth a visit if only for the food.

Room Tip: Choose room at far end of corridor way from lift shaft and extractor fan (7am till midnight)

We stayed for one night and had two rooms. Both rooms were clean and comfortable although they were a bit dimly lit and the beds a bit hard. Although the hotel is a bit difficult to find, it's in a good location once you know your way. Dinner in the hotel was quite good. We didn't stay for breakfast as it seemed a bit too expensive. I noticed they rent bicycles, we didn't get to rent them, but the price was quite reasonable.

Lovely Area, The house was a bit hard to find but once we found it was impressed, they could repave driveway leading to the house. Was impressed with the room, bed was a decent size, TV too small for the size of the room, couldnt fault it. Food hall was lovely food was nice, lunch and breakfast. Customer service was very helpful, laundry was cheap ... very happy little vegemites.

The welcome and service was good. We were disappointed with our room as it was in the basement and it was dark and quite dismal the decor unfortunately did not do it any favours as it was too dark for the room . The bed should have been a double it was two beds pushed together which seemed really old and the side my husband slept in squeaked all night. We should have had bath robes and there were not any. The breakfast was average .

Room Tip: Don't have a room in the basement

Dear Loobyloo1963

Thanks for your review. Appreciate your comments and have taken them on board. Being a period building our reception area is on the second floor, the room you described is actually our ground floor.

We are on a continuous program of bed upgrades I will check that one out for you. Bathrobes only come as standard in our Deluxe and Superior rooms, perhaps you might try them next time. Good to hear that you found both welcome and service good.

Best regards

a great place to stay in Waterford close to the city but with the peace of the countryside. the food is top class and the staff are just amazing. the bedrooms are huge and you would get lost in the beds.
