“Great place for a family day out”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

We had a day out at Johnstown Castle and Gardens and thoroughly enjoyed it. The peacock cafe was nice, great food and even the chance to see a peacock expand it's feathers. The grounds and lovely to walk around. Well worth the trip out there.

“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed 24 July 2014

First time visitor, with a historical society. Well laid out with numerous different sections - gardens, agricultural museum and restaurant. While agricultural equipment may not be of interest to ever visitor there are recreated rooms and shops from different periods. Very enjoyable.

“Lovely mature gardens”
Reviewed 19 July 2014 via mobile

This is a lovely place to visit for a walk in the grounds of an old castle. The walk around the lake is really nice with a lovely old water feature. Bring a camera because plenty of places to take great photos. The castle is not open to the public yet but there is a great agricultural museum in a converted court yard which is easily take 1.5 hours to walk around. There is an additional cost to get into the museum. The cafe is suituated in the same courtyard. Keep an eye out for events especially the medieval events. Great fun

I'm local to here so we pop in often... Beautiful gardens, where you can potter around for hours. Kids love coming here with bikes or balls etc.

“Lovely place”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

Very relaxing place where you could spend hours just strolling around the beautiful gardens. The castle is the dominant feature but unfortunately cannot be accessed by the public. The museum is interesting and the peacocks roaming around the grounds are fascinating. Loads of space for kids to run around or ride their bicycles. The small cafe serves lovely food and the bathroom facilities are very clean.
