We visited on a day when entrance fees were greatly reduced: I don't think we would have paid the full fee. Went for a walk which was meant to be 3 km but because of poor signage, it turned out to be much further - more like 5km. This was a problem because one of our party was diabetic and their sugar went very low, and another had heart problems and while 3km was do-able, 5km was really too far for them to walk in comfort. We visited the cafe - tatty and badly needing a bit of TLC, with the usual high prices found in places where there is no competition. The cafe was full of wasps, I know this couldn't be helped, being a very hot day in late August, but didn't add to our enjoyment! The exhibition was interesting but could be made much more of. The arboretum in Co Carlow has a simply beautiful restaurant and lovely shops, making it a day out anyone would enjoy.
