“Enjoyable stay”
Reviewed 1 November 2013

Me and my work pal were very lucky to find this place had a room at short notice , a very comfortable stay with pub next door for evening meals perfect. I took some pictures of the room and sent them to my wife only for her to tell me it's haunted " well it is 600 years old but me and my mate had a sound sleep with no bumps in the night and I would definitely stay again

We chose this cottage as we were going to the Rose Bowl international cricket ground, which was just a 30 minute flat walk away.
The owners were really helpful in allowing us to check in early at lunch time prior to the match, which was much appreciated.
The downstairs bedroom was very big, with 3 beds, we were given the option of having two of the single beds put together to make a large super king-size. It was nice to have the choice. The TV in the room was huge, I've only ever seen a bigger one in the large hotel chains. We later found the beds and pillows to be very comfortable, with good quality bed linen. The bathroom had the option of bath or shower above.
Breakfast was a relaxed event in the adjacent lounge and dining room with separate tables. There were lovely home made jams and you could look out into the garden and see their chickens who provide most of the eggs. The bacon was lovely.
Overall it was a thoroughly enjoyable stay, and there is only one thing I would suggest to improve experience is to add a net curtain in the downstairs bathroom. Although there is a roller blind, it is easy to forget the need to lower it and the path outside does lead to the front door!

Room Tip: We only saw the downstairs room, which is perfect for a family or anyone who needs to avoid stairs.

I stayed at Strawberry Cottage due to a family wedding in the South coast. It was me and my boyfriend staying in the double room which was very comfortable with a great view of the beautiful garden. Jenny was attending to us giving great advice about where it eat and the sites of Southampton as I hadn’t visited before.

We had breakfast right by the window which was lovely on the sunny morning looking out at the chickens and preened garden. We both selected the full English which went down extremely well (after a slight hung-over from the wedding). Jenny again was very accommodating with different breakfast options and a selection of teas.

This was a charming, beautiful, friendly personable Bed and Breakfast and a must stay if your visiting the south coast.

This is a very special place. The accommodation, which is extremely comfortable, is separate from the main tudor manor house. Breakfast was superb. Don't be put off by the German Shepherd who barks briefly when you enter the premises - she is just doing her job as a guard dog and is kept away from guests. We parked on the quiet road adjacent to the property, as it was easy to get blocked in in the narrow drive. Very pretty garden. Pub next door was not a problem and is useful for a cheap and cheerful meal.

I have stayed here on two occassions now, the first being as I was working in the area, from which I was so impressed I came back with my wife. The rooms are extremely comfortable/clean and well equiped and set in beautiful gardens.

The owners were also very friendly and helpful on more than one occassion, for directions, local attractions and history of the place.

Great place!!

Very pleasant b&b that's only a five minute walk from Hedge End station. The rooms that I have stayed in are nice (one had a double bed, the other had two singles), with a shower, tv, kettle and teabags etc. Tasty fried breakfast with free range eggs supplied by the chickens that live in the garden. Definitely one of the best b&b's in the area and watching the chickens at breakfast can be quite relaxing!

Stayed here with hubby. Great location very close to Hedge End station and there's a pub around the corner that was busy. Lovely grounds with chickens outside (and free ranged eggs!).
There are only 3 rooms in total here, we had the family room which had 3 single beds which was the only down fall, only one room has a double bed and our room was right next to the breakfast room.
Nicely decorated, clean, ensuite, kettle, tea/chocolate drinks, TV, extra blankets everything you need really. Breakfast was lovely served in a very cute breakfast room.
Overall lovely cottage, comfortable stay and the owners were a delight!
