“Not cheap but worth every penny.”
Reviewed 17 March 2012

Stayed in Kellys for a night with my wifes family as they were treating my mother in law for her 80th birthday. What a fantastic hotel this is, it's not the most modern hotel but the service is second to none in Ireland, anyone running a hotel and wondering how to treat their guests should spend a nigh or two here. The food is great and especially good value if you are staying on full or half board as then everything is free and for what you get you will need to spend the rest of the time in the gym to justify eating so much. There is a full range of spa treatments going on for anyone interested and the free pool, sauna and leisure facilities are great also and don't miss out on the outdoors hot tub on the beach outside, we only discovered that the next morning but it was lovely to soak then run in to the surf to cool off and hop back in again. The guests tended to be on the elderly side but there were quite a few young families there as well, the entertainment was also a bit twee but kind of added to the charm of the place. We will definitely return in the summer to make use of the lovely beach on the back door step. Would heartily recommend this hotel as somewhere for a quiet break away from the madness and to be treated like a human being for a while. Brilliant service , lovely helpful staff, rare enough these days in Ireland unfortunately.

I stayed in Kelly's for a mid-week overnight spa break. All i can say is Heaven! It truly is another world in Kelly's. The atmosphere is just so relaxed all throughout the hotel. The service from the time you step trough the front door is fantastic. We enjoyed a wonderful day in the Spa and Thermal pool, followed by dinner in La Marine. The food is excellent and the choice for lunch was brilliant. We had excellent beach front rooms, where we ate our late breakfast and enjoyed the view. We had a wonderful time in Kelly's, i couldn't recommend it highly enough!! Will be returning in October for a romantic break!

Room Tip: Book a sea view room, absolutely fabulous.

Just back from Kelly's after a special weekend for extended family and friends break away. Two special confirmations to be celebrated and what a welcome and helpful staff we met once again from the team at Kelly's. We arrived late on thursday night but there was no trouble with a special meal for kids and adults alike. Great food and wine advice for the weary traveller's. Settled into our rooms which were beautifully re-modelled over the winter. Beautiful decor and tasteful touches made family rooms special. A quick dip in the sea and a long relax in the hot tub set me up. Kids were all happy (from teens to tots). Relax, family and adult time was was had by all. Staff from front desk, restaurant and room maintenance made every effort to to keep the good feeling going all weekend long. Food from the kitchen was stunning which made choosing a real issue! We had a special meal for 15 on Saturday night in Beaches which was managed and catered really well. Many thanks to all again. Booking made for next year! P.S.Make sure to open your window at night to keep cool and listen to the sounds of the sea as you fall asleep!!

Went for a short break - overnight. The break started with midday lunch in the Ivy Room, the food was so fresh, desserts we divine. The afternoon was spent in the Spa and Thermal pool, we just drifted into another world. Totally relaxed, we went for a walk on the beach afterwards and had dinner in La Marine. The whole day was relaxing, staff were friendly and made our stay memorable. Next morning, we treated ourselves to breakfast in the room, sea views - we did not want to leave. I have found the standards in this hotel consistently high. The floral decorations are amazing. Wine list is excellent and not overpriced. The hotel has a really nice garden and water features where you can take an evening stroll. Some really good mid week deals - we will certainly be back

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room

Pro's:
- Wonderful location right on the beach.
- The new rooms in the sea spa wing are very spacious and comfortable.
- Lots of facilities inc. pools, spa, tennis and childrens play area.
- Extensive lunch and dinner menus with plenty of choice.
- Fabulous wine list.

Con's:
- Service levels have deteriorated - poor service at check in and checkout and from housekeeping staff.
- Menus and presentation of food quite dated and could do with some modernisation. E.g. Glass of orange juice still served on a plate. Options at breakfast quite limited - no waffles, pancakes or omlette options. Potatoes (in 2 of 3 forms!) served with every single dish on the lunch and dinner menu.
- Some dining room staff poorly trained, e.g. awful service from the cheese trolley, staff too familiar in many cases.
- Soft drinks in the mini bar were all out of date.
- Water jug and classes not removed when the room was serviced.
- Entertainment is very much targetted towards an older age group.

Dear Ms LollIreland,

Further to your letter on Trip Advisor, I and all our team were happy that you enjoyed the food, wines, and facilities of Kelly’s, but we were taken back and disappointed by your comment that you would not be eager to return.

It was our opening week in 2012, so we learnt a good lesson from your comments. We apologise that the service levels in accommodation and reception fell short of your expectations and ours. We appreciate your kind comments on the food and also your suggestions, our cheese board training is starting again today! I have shown your letter to our Executive Chef Eugene Callaghan and his team, who assure me that they will do the utmost to improve the quality of food we serve in hotel. In general, I would have to say that Eugene’s food has been very well received since his arrival in Beaches last year, however, we have to remain conscious of over modernization of the food or we could loose many of our existing supporters. We normally only have one potato on the plate if any, but offer a second option on the side. It is a pity you didn’t mention your preferences for breakfast at the time, we would certainly have accommodated your requests. Regarding the entertainment it does vary, we have a different group offering live music everynight of the week. It is unfortunately difficult to find "the one suits all" band.

Although disappointed, we thank you for taking the time to contact us on Trip Advisor and hopefully we will have the pleasure of your return at some future date.

Yours sincerely,

Bill Kelly,
Managing Director

1st time to Kelly's as an adult & first holiday with our 7mth old. Love how this place is set up, with space for the kids and retreats for the adults!! As a parent you really feel like you fit in - the room, baby preparation room and general set up was great. Brilliant playroom & lovely babysitter for evening so we could get away.
Package prices are high but great value for money & other costs (spa, drinks, etc) are not expensive. Spa is magnificent!!
We'll be back next year!!
