We stayed here for 2 nights and had the most relaxing time. When we arrived we got a warm welcome and check in was efficient and quick. Our room was spacious, with a nice balcony. Lovely clean roomy bathroom too. Dined in the restaurant on the first night and all I can say was SUPERB!! I had a pork dish with a rhubarb dressing and is was amazing. As for the Caramel and Peanut Butter Parfait. To. Die. For. Dined in the Forthside bar the 2nd night and again the food was sublime. Try the Yorkie, a steak nestled in a yorkshire pudding and pepper sauce. Yummmm. One small thing, the bath towels were very small. But that is the only small gripe I have. Overall a lovely stay.

Room Tip: Our room was to the side of the hotel which was also led to the exit of the carpark. maybe a room t...

Dear Topazeyes

I was lovely to read your review and your kind comments on the warm welcome you received. As a family owned and run hotel for 50 years, to extend a warm welcome to our guests has always been a priority to us.

We spend a lot of time planning our menus and sourcing local, seasonal ingredients and I am delighted that you enjoyed your meals, both in Seasons Restaurant and the Forthside Bar. I will ensure to pass on your comments to our Head Chef and her team.

Thank you for choosing Whitford House Hotel and for your kind words.

Kind Regards

Myself and my boyfriend recently stayed for four nights in the whitford hotel. We had a lovely stay, the pool was lovely (in particular the jacuzzi). The food was lovely and staff were very pleasant and always happy to help. Our only criticism was that the wifi was very poor throughout the hotel but overall we had a lovely stay!

Room Tip: Corner rooms can be quite noisy as there

Just back from a 5 nights stay at the Whitford hotel. I'm sorry I hadn't read the reviews before booking and I would have requested two of the rooms with the balconies and at the back of the hotel. As it was very warm we had to leave the windows open and road noise was quite loud. Our rooms were at the top of the stairs so we could hear everyone coming and going. But hopefully when we stay there again the key system will be like downstairs I.E. card. Having said all that we had a brilliant time in the Whitford. Right from the start we felt welcome. Having travelled a long journey we were anxious to try the local food and we were NOT disappointed . The staff were probably amongst the friendliest we have had the pleasure of meeting in a long time. Paddy and Brian especially are real gems and we couldn't say we had to wait long for our food any evening which was always amazing. Unless you have a really big appetite I would advise skipping the starter and enjoy the Main course. The leisure centre is brilliant and the added bonus of the heated underfloor in the changing room is such a bonus as it's rarely ever too wet so the floor isn't likely to be slippy. The location of this hotel is brilliant and we as a family are really pleased we choose it. Well done to everyone and hopefully we will be back again when in the area. We will definitely be recommending this hotel to anyone we know travelling in the area.

We recently stayed at this hotel on a 4BB&2D package. We arrived earlier than the 4pm check-in but luckily our room was ready. We had to book a superior deluxe room as we were informed their standard rooms couldn't accommodate 2 adults & 2 children, which made it pretty expensive for the package deal in comparison to other hotels. The room itself was very spacious, beds were comfy and we also had a small patio area (we were on the ground floor, upper floors had balconies). Sounds nice but it was not ideal as there was no side barrier blocking off the patio from the patio of the room beside us, which meant we couldn't let our 2yr old outside without supervision. Something the hotel should think about rectifying considering they advertise the hotel as being family friendly. TV channel selection was very poor. Rooms at night were very hot, could do with aircon in the rooms. No fridges in the room so we had to resort to using ice-buckets and topping them up with fresh ice to keep our toddler's milk cold. Beware, they also charged €1.50 in the bar to fill my toddlers milk cup which holds no more than a small plastic beaker - first time we've ever stayed in a hotel and had to pay for milk for a toddler - and at that price too! We had 2 small bottles of complimentary water in the room on the first day but it was never replaced, which in other hotels we've stayed in typically would be.
The on-site playground & pool were great to occupy the kids. They advertise a kids club but any morning/evening my 6yr old wanted to do it they didn't run it as they didn't have the numbers and she was naturally disappointed as this was one of the reasons we chose the hotel. Eventually after turning up for the third time, my little one wore the kids club organiser down and got to have her kids club fun while we had dinner. After that we never bothered again with the club as I didn't want to chance any more disappointment.
Food in the bar & restaurant was good and tasty. Beware of overcharging - we were overcharged on 3 of the 4 nights and when I mentioned it on checking out was told no-one had ever raised the issue before so don't know if it was pure bad luck with us. Service in the bar was hit and miss depending on who you got. Dinner service in the restaurant was extremely slow - took us over 2 hours from start to finish and I had to keep asking for either the menu or drinks etc as my 2yr old was getting very tired. And this despite having got the menus 10mins before they opened the restaurant at 6.30pm so we could order as soon as we were seated - this aspect is definitely not very family friendly for those with smallies!! We only had dinner one of the nights in the restaurant and the other one we were given credit for the bar menu, but the value doesn't equate as the restaurant is pricier and more fine dining so if going again would only go B&B, especially as our kids don't do late dinners.
Overall though would recommend the hotel and we would stay there again if we saw a good offer.

Dear Lindylu,

Thank you sincerely for taking the time to review your recent visit to Whitford House Hotel, we are delighted that you enjoyed your recent stay. We were however disappointed to note that some of the issues you raised were not brought to our attention during your visit as room fridges are available on request from the hotel reception, it is such a pity we were unaware of your crisis.

It is important to clarify that the kids club, which has proved very popular over the summer season, was manned for the advertised times. However, possibly due to the exceptionally good weather which we have enjoyed in the South East over the summer, there were a couple of occasions that the attendance numbers were very low and consequently the kids opted not to participate in the camp schedule. The camp supervisor is at all times agreeable to facilitating your wishes as our guest.

In relation to the charge for the beaker of milk and the service delay which you outlined, I wish to investigate these issues further and I would ask that you contact me on (053) 91 43444 so I may reimburse you and also discuss the source of the delay/overcharge. Please note that it is not our policy to charge for children's milk so your assistance would be very much appreciated. We provide complimentary cordials and desserts during our carvery service to children so what you experienced is contrary to all that we strive so hard to achieve.

With regard to your wonderful suggestion in screening off the patio area further, we are currently liaising with our maintenance team and we hope to resolve this shortly.

Thank you for choosing Whitford House Hotel as your holiday destination and for your constructive comments. We hope to talk with you soon.

Yours Sincerely,

Eilish Whitty

Just had four nights stay here. The staff were very friendly and hardworking, the hotel is very clean with modern decor, and our bedroom had a little patio. The food was great with some portions being extremely generous! No famine here! The leisure/spa facility was excellent and open till really late compared to most hotels. There were a few small issues here and there- eg the bedrooms were a bit warm at night, a small fridge in the room would be nice - but I would recommend this hotel to anyone and I don't understand anyone downrating it as they have in other reviews - because overall this was one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in.

Stayed at Whitford house hotel health and leisure club having simply driven past. Very clean hotel with friendly staff. the rooms were quiet with double glazing, cutting the noise out completely from the road infront. Breakfast was excellent and the evening meal was delicious! Nothing was too much trouble for them and would recommend this hotel for any traveller. We did not use the Leisure Centre as we were only there for one night but it looked terrific.
