Had a family break for two nights. Hotel's website advertises family rooms that can stay up to six people in. Our room was No 322 - never take it!!! Far too small for family with two kids would do for 2 people sharing not four. Barely fit one double and one single - hardly any space to walk (can you imagine to have two kids in it). Window was facing a dirty wall outside, that we couldn't even see a sky and didn't know was it raining or sun shining. Toilet wouldn't flush - had to use hotel's public toilets. Room service was poor too. They only made the beds - didn't wash glasses or cups. There were somebody's hair in the bath. When kids were trying to have a bath by a slight pull a curtain poll fall on the top of their heads.
We had evening meal included in our package - on the night of the meal we discovered that we had to pay supplement fees on some starters (€3.00), supplement fee for steak was €10.00 never seen such a price before!, Lamb €5.00. By the end of the meal it was hardly free dinner. And I wouldn't say that package was that cheap itself €238.
But food overall was nice and staff was very friendly and helpful. Leisure facilities are very nice, only kids have to leave at 6.30, time we were back from sightseeing. Only got to use it once in the early morning.
Location is very good and it is very nice around - lovely lake and beach walks, playground.

Wouldn't stay in this hotel again.

Room Tip: Don't take room 322!

The hotel is good and clean probably a bit pricey but when you have booked 5 room and have approx 20 people staying over you might expect a good welcome at reception ! Well forget that!obnoxious and downright rude is what we get and it went downhill from there with bar staff , cleaners , and a general feeling you were a hinderance to all involved , hopefully after a goods night sleep reception might be a happier place sadly we were wrong take your money no receipt an no thank you . The Brennan group who run this hotel would really need to start looking at complaints on trip advisor as we spoke to at least 30 people who felt the same . Ps breakfast was like feeding time at the zoo , cue to get in the door , cue beside people who were already eating to find no plates , no eggs , no cutlery on freshly made up table , no ketchup brown sauce on display orange juice ran out and not filled up for 20 mins , and water that ran out and was never filled = 20 unhappy guests from 1 family who won't b returning and will be advising friends and families not to visit this hotel

In late Dec 2013 I booked a Two night break to celebrate my 76th Birthday at the end of May 2014. On the booking form I explained the purpose of our break and also that my wife was disabled and we required a twin bed room hopefully with sea view. Upon arrival there were three people on duty in reception. Despite having had over 5 months notice there had been no preparation made for us or our requirements by the hotel. We were first offered a double bed room. We explained that we had booked a twin room. Only at this stage did they look up our booking where they then read our request. After much conferring by the reception staff we were given a room. We proceeded in the direction they indicated only to be recalled and changed to yet another room.
This room, No 207 was approx.100 metres distant from reception. In fact it was the furthest room from reception in the hotel. How was that for a guest who was clearly disabled and required a walking aid? I went back to reception and complained but nothing was done. I said their forward planning was non existent as here was a disabled guest having to walk 100m to and from our room. The room itself was so small we couldn't easily pass one another. The bathroom door was a sliding affair usually seen outdoors on farm buildings. It made so much noise to open or close we just didn't use it. The shower cubicle has no door or curtain leaving the bathroom floor and toilet area were soaking wet after shower use. The beds were comfortable but creaked and groaned with the slightest movement or turn. The towels were well used and had long since lost their fluffy feeling.
The food however was very good. Nice menus with good choices. Nice ambience in the restaurant.
I won't be returning to the Arklow Bay Hotel however.

Room Tip: We were in Room 207. It is one to avoid at all cost!

Stayed here for a business stop over mid week. Arrived at hotel to see if they had any rooms and was very well accommodated. I was informed there was a wedding going on but it should finish early enough. The noise did get a bit unbearable when I was trying to get to sleep but they finished up about midnight. The room was spotless but the bathroom could do with a facelift. The toilet flusher handle was broken, the sealing around the shower was all coming away and some tiles were cracked however it was very clean. I would stay again.

stayed here for one night in May as I was attending a wedding and found it to be rather expensive.... E130 for one night b+b for a double room, which consisted of a double bed and a single bed... the double bed was right up to the window, which meant I had to hop over my husband to use the loo during the night... ... and the bar prices were were also rather high... E6.30 for a glass of wine...Wont be rushing back to it.....

Stayed here for a weekend family break but, unfortunately, we wouldn't stay again. Found the hotel very basic, compared with other hotels we've stayed in. Everything was just okay, to be honest, with nothing particularly standing out for us. It's ideal if you're visiting family/friends in the area but with so many other places to stay and visit - we won't be back to this hotel.

Just back from another stay in this hotel, it is so homely and the staff are excellent, they can't do enough for you. The room was fine, yes it maybe could do with a little updating but then it could lose its lovely atomosphere. The view from our room (406) was stunning. (sea view)

We had some bar food and it was really good and served very fast, the breakfast was good but could be improved slightly as we love our fried eggs :) and missed them here.

The pool is one of the best I have ever being in, its a lovely area and a lovely large pool. The steam room ect was great and well looked after, staff again very friendly and helpful.

We have stayed in many hotels that are all style but not as homely as the Arklow Bay, it was busy and I can see why :)

We will def be back.

Room Tip: Room 406. (great sea view)
