Cheap but not cheerful. We arrived to find the place in darkness. Eventually we found a note advising to visit the house opposite to gain entry. We booked via Booking.com which advised of a triple bed room, showing a sizeable bedroom in the photograph. What we actually got was a room with one single bed and two bunks with insufficent room to swing a cat. The wi-fi allegedly available throughout didn't work throughout e.g. in room. The sheets were dirty - not convinced they were changed from whoever slept on them previously. The mattresses were appalling - completely knackered and only fit for the bin. Stay here and risk getting a bad back! Couldn't get out of the place quickly enough.

This Hostel might be fine but when we arrived it was very hard to find, dark and totally uninviting. We left for bit, came back again and it was still the same. No one answered the door so we found another place to stay. Nice little town though and maybe it would have been ok but we were very put off by the lack of welcome.

My friend and I stayed here for two nights just by chance. It was the only hostel in Wicklow Co. woth availability on such short notice.

We were shocked by some of the negative reviews and found this place nothing but positive! We missed our bus into Wicklow so arrived later than our anticipated time but the taxi centre in Wicklow got a hold of the hostel for us so they were up and waiting when we arrived at 12:30am!

The rooms are basic, the beds are comfy as are the the blankets! Ensuite bathroom was a bonus. The water gets warm but never really hot. The kitchen is open all day until 10pm for your use. There is a bit of a lounge in the front foyer but nobody seems to use it. There is wifi but it comes from the main house so is only available outside the house and towards the main house.

There is no real reception because this is a family run hostel with John and his wife living just across the street with their friendly dog, Ralph! So don't fret if nobody is in sight, just head across the street and you'll find someone!

This was a great stay, John and his wife were so kind to us, even drying our towels before we headed out so we could pack them away in our backpacks!!

This hostel is in Rathdrum, about a €20 cab ride from Wicklow. We didn't realize this but our little mistake turned out to be a blessing as we found we loved this hostel and the town that it's in!

Definitely get your € worth! Don't hesitate to stay at this hostel-- it's got a lovely feel to it! And If you're in need of a bit of canine comfort, their dog Ralph loves a nice neck scratch!

Thanks for everything :)

This is a large hostel, suitable for large groups. Luckily, no large groups were present during our stay, so it was very quiet and pleasant. It has an institutional feel, but very spacious and a huge kitchen. There were only a couple of other couples there, so totally private. We had double room with private bathroom and shower, for a reasonable price considering it is in Ireland. The couple running the place were friendly and helpful. There was no wifi in the room, but they invited us across the street to their home to use the wifi in the comfort of their living room.

Good situation to visit Glendalough and the Wicklow mountains with a car.
Room noisy due to shared kitchen's proximity.
Good for young travelers and backpakers !
