“Lovely stay in a homely cottage”
Reviewed 6 October 2016 for a stay in October 2016

We stayed 3 nights in Granary Cottage in Llangynidr, in Brecon Beacons. We had looked online for a place to stay within the national park but we couldn't find a suitable property, all of them had something that put us off.
Granary cottage seemed quite good value for money due to its great location and facilities.

Phil texted us to let us know the cottage was ready on Saturday afternoon, they have a key lock so there's no issues with arrival time.
There was a very nice surprise in the kitchen: complimentary welsh cakes, milk and a bottle of Spanish wine, a very nice touch that we enjoyed enormously.

The cottage was very clean and very nicely done, we had everything we needed to spend 3 days disconnected from the world. We enjoyed very much the evenings in front of the fireplace, really homely feel.
The location is fantastic to do hiking and mountaineering, really convenient for the national park.
Fortunately, we brought food for the 3 days, it was a good move given that the only shop in Llangynidr was at the opposite side of the village - not convenient after spending the day in the mountain. It's not that far though, but we only found it the last day when we were leaving.
We went to the Red Lion the first night - very nice village pub, good beer and decent food. The Coach and Horses seems perhaps higher quality, although we only stopped for a drink on Sunday after our 22km-hike!

What it doesn't have: a couple of details, it doesn't have WiFi or mobile signal inside the cottage (which can be also convenient to be completely relaxed), however, the 2 pubs had WiFi so that's not an issue. It doesn't have body wash or any toiletries in the bathroom either (only hand wash), we would suggest to bring your own. I doesn't have any sponge/scrub to wash the dishes and there's no dishwasher. However, you do have washing liquid so you can wash them anyway.
Other than that, you have everything you need.

Special mention to the fireplace - ready to be used, we enjoyed it so much!

It was a really lovely stay and we would definitely recommend it...!!!

“Excellent, Spacious, Comfortable and Clean”
Reviewed 21 March 2016 for a stay in March 2016

An amazing property located in the heart of a wonderful village. A short scenic drive from the foot of the highest mountains in Southern Britain. The house is spacious, homely and fully equipt for adults and kids. The owner Phil was very kind, helpful and easy to contact. I could not rate the property, location, owner and price any better!
