We went to Miller & Carter for Valentines Day. The service was great. Beautiful food, cooked just how we asked. Night, bright and Airy restaurant, friendly staff and lush cocktails.

Tried this restaurant a year ago and had a good meal, now found myself going again. Booked online this time and chose time and date, went like clockwork. The steak I ordered was just how I wanted it so it shows they do listen to what and how you want your food. The waiter we had was very accommodating in our needs, even arranging for a dessert that was on their lunchtime menu and not normally served at night. Have been 3 times now and it never disappoints .

Visited for lunch and we were quite surprised how empty it was for a Sunday. No roast offered so I had the BBQ chicken breast with fries and 'onion loaf' for £11 + . Really disappointed when it was put in front of me(not the reaction you want when you look forward to a meal), dry chicken with gloopy (probably bottled) sauce and cheese on top, 5 baby salad leaves (why bother), a quarter of tomato (ditto) and the famous 'onion loaf' was literally a few bit of broken up onion ring. The other meals at our table were not much better (although the ribs were quite nice). I think you have to go for the most expensive meals on the menu to get something approaching a decent meal. Very poor value, I would have thought £5 would be too much to pay for that meal. Didn't bother with the pudding. Can now see why it was so empty. The usual trend of 'chain restaurants' serving up poor quality and small portions for silly prices. Wont be back.

A wheelchair user has to enter the building through the back door. Ring the bell and wait for someone to open the door. No indication of the bell working. Rang bell twice, 2nd time kept my finger on the bell and then the door was unlocked and let in, It was a raining day. Not a good start to what was a birthday treat for my elderly mother

On entering the restaurant it was very dark. Décor was dark brown walls with dark brown wooden blinds all closed with subtle lighting and difficult to see. The décor at the other end of the restaurant was a lot lighter and asked to be sitted there. Told there were steps. We were placed at a table nearest to the light décor and asked if they could open the blinds or turn up the lights as it was difficult to see the menu. Told that the light above us didn't work and was relocated to the back of the restaurant. Again unable to see the menu. Asked again for the blinds to be opened, this time they responded.. It was obvious they thought we were a nuisance. All we wanted was a nice relaxing meal in a nice environment.

We have been there before and discussed the difficulties wheelchairs users have and was ensured changes were going to be made.

A friend also went there for a birthday party with friends and family and after their meal was asked to vacate their table and sit in the bar. As she was a wheelchair user she was unable to get to the bar area because of the steps. She had to go home and not be part of the birthday celebrations.

I really think this is a poor reflection of Miller & Carter and should look at comfortable inclusive dining for all.

However, our meal was very nice but occasion spoilt. We won't be returning to Miller & Carter on principal

5th visit, so it cannot be all bad. Last two times the rib eye steaks were to die for along with decent starters and side orders etc, but service as always a complete shambles, albeit the staff are very charming, but pretty useless, this time food was pretty poor but service was for the first time reasonable. Hit and miss with everything here. Last time we were in a party of 4 and we all ordered rib eye steaks, but 2 of got rib eyes and the other two got sirloin steaks, which was fine but we should get what we ordered, and this time we ordered rib eye steaks and we both got rump steaks ! I think the staff think that the diners who come here are mostly muppets and don't know the difference so they just serve you what is ready, or what they have not sold out of. Would still go back in the hope that we will get one of their fantastic rib eye steaks again one day, but it is a lottery to what you will, actually get.
