“Good Base for Days Out”
Reviewed 6 August 2013

We decided to use this hotel as a base for a long weekend in London. The free parking, easy access to M40 and being 2 - 3 minutes walk from the tube station (Zone 6) were deciding factors.

We had a family room and were pleased that unlike many other hotels my daughter got a proper bed rather than a converted sofa. The rooms are dated, but clean. There is air con, which is not too noisy. The windows are well insulated and our room overlooked the main road. We were not at all disturbed by any noise from the street or railway and only vaguely noticed the trains on our last morning & then it was more than drowned out by the sound of the kettle or normal chatting.

The bar is reasonably priced with a pint of Guinness Extra Cold at £3.30 and a larger glass of wine £3.85.

Breakfast was adequate and filled us up for our days out. We would definitely stay here again.

This is a pretty basic hotel, but that's not a terrible thing. The bed felt a bit worn out, but I slept well and frankly that's what matters. Given the recent weather having decent aircon in the bedroom was brilliant and definitely made the night more comfortable.

Check-in was friendly and efficient, and the service at breakfast was absolutely fine. The breakfast itself was a very basic continental buffet, but filled a hole and set me up for the day ahead.

The hotel is right next to the station, but doesn't seem to suffer with too much noise. This definitely makes it good as a base for visiting central London.

I booked about 6 weeks in advance and saved almost 1/3 on the price advertised 2-3 days before.

Easy to find. Free parking if you have a rental car. Rooms were clean, comfortable. Complimentary breakfast was continental and had a good amount of variety. Free wifi for the first 24 hrs. Train line is right on the door step. Didn't use this, but useful to get into London if intended.
An overnight stay for an onwards journey the next day was adequate and a good base...

We stayed in this hotel for one night when we went to Wembley for Capital's Summertime Ball.

The hotel was good - clean and the staff were friendly

It is only a couple of minutes walk away from the South Ruislip tube and train station.

You have to take the overground train from S Ruislip to Wembley so make sure you have the right ticket for that. The main Ruislip station which is on the same underground line as Wembley is a good 30 min walk from the hotel.

If you're heading into central london from here it's very easy and take around 20 mins - S Ruislip station is on the Central Line but you will need a ticket for zones 1-5

The continental breakfast was basic - croissants, bread, yogurt and fruit.

It was a bargain for a London hotel at £65 for a double room incl breakfast.

I stayed here for 2 nights as I was visiting family near by. I had about 4 hours sleep each night. The hotel is just off a main road and next to south Ruislip station so that created enough noise which to be fair you can get used to and manage to block it out. The problem I had was that I could hear young men being rude and obnoxious during a drunken discussion in the next room and it sounded like they were in the same room as me, the walls are paper thin! I called down to reception to complain they did come up and speak to them but this made no impact. Considering the hand out in the room says please lower the tv after 11pm you think people would have some respect for other guests. The room was drab, wallpaper peeling off and the cold water didn't work in the morning which meant I had to pour water down the toilet to flush it.

Breakfast was really basic cheap tea and coffee that tasted foul.

After paying £190 for the 2 of us I was expecting much better quality than this.

It's located next to South Ruislip station on the Central Line so a 25 minute rail journey will see you in the centre of London. The room was clean and comfortable and had tea/coffee facilities, air con and free wi-fi (first 24 hours). Complimentary breakfast is included and was very good indeed offering a wide range of cereals, fruit, yoghurt toast etc. Dinner is available offering good value Italian/Indian themes, I paid £35 for 3 courses for the 2 of us. The hotel is very easy to find (no London congestion to contend with) and is very close to the end of the M40. I would stay here again and definately recommend.

From the front door of the hotel, it is just a very short walk under a bridge to reach South Ruislip Underground Station, which is on the Central Line and will take you straight into the West End of London. Guests can park their car free of charge during their stay. Reception is just inside the main doorway and was very friendly and efficient. The rooms were a good size with everything you need - desk, 2 chairs, bed, air conditioning, almost sound proof windows and a slightly small but practical bathroom with the shower over the bath. The room has obviously seen some use and is a little faded but was spotlessly clean. There is a bar opposite reception and just beyond that is where you get your 'Continental Breakfast'. Choices a little limited, fruit juices were tepid and service almost non existent despite two people behind the screen covering the kitchen door. It was this that dragged down the service score.

Room Tip: There is a pub next to the hotel that is a little rough & ready but serves reasonably priced mea...
