“Awful service and overpriced food.”
Reviewed 25 May 2014

Table for 2 was booked for 7.30 arrived at 7.15 and waited 45 minutes to be seated. Waited at the table 15 minutes before offered a menu (after asking) waited another 15 minutes for order to be taken. Starter arrived which was ok. Crayfish and advocado. Main course arrived which was supposed to be lobster spaghetti only minus any lobster. A big plate of spaghetti. Waited another 15
minutes for them to clear the table. Considering it cost the best part of £120, the service and food were atrocious. Avoid unless your happy to wait for overpriced food.

“Perfect!”
Reviewed 15 May 2014 via mobile

Wow! We stumbled upon this lovely little gem by chance and could not find a single thing to complain about!

The staff could not have been more helpful and the food was the nicest Italian food we have ever eaten!

We had the fillet steak which melted in your mouth and the veal which was just beautiful!

We are nowhere near you but so wish you were our local restaurant!!

Thank you Rucola.... Keep doing what you do best!!

“It's mostly ok”
Reviewed 1 May 2014

We've been to the Rucola many times over the last dozen years as we can walk there into the village and it's mostly ok. The menu has never changed but they do have a large specials blackboard with good variety. However the last time there I had an inch long piece of plastic in my main meal. I called the waiter over who agreed it was indeed a piece of plastic, and took it off to the kitchen. And that appeared to be the end of the matter as far as he was concerned. No apology at any time, no return with an explanation, and lastly no deduction from the bill. I'm not a fan of the "compensation culture" but when a restaurant makes an error I do expect them to at least acknowledge this, and many places would have taken the cost of that dish off the overall bill. So this has now made me less inclined to visit this again in the future.

“Service as it should be”
Reviewed 9 March 2014

Well, 'tis now number one as the Grill has closed down and is the only restaurant in Little Chalfont but by goodness it is a good one. A friendly and warm greeting from the professional, well turned out staff was followed by seating at well spaced and nicely presented tables. All courses were served at well spaced intervals and a chalk board with the day's specials was presented to us personally and talked through, a touch sadly lacking these days. Complementary bread with garlic butter and oil was served. We had whitebait and bresaola for starters and skate and crab pasta for mains. All were good but the skate was outstanding. Chuck in a bottle of Pinot Grigio blush and with a 10% Grat and you are looking at £70. The excellent service and very decent food make this worth it and we will be coming back. My minor gripes are that the same Bananarama album was played 3 times in a row and the decor (80's pop art and wall length, face height mirrors next to tables) is just a bit out of sync with the food and service. I mean, it's perfectly tasteful but it just does not sit quite right. This is probably a personal thing so no big deal and it will not detract from the overall excellence. Great stuff!
