Review of Rex Bakery

Rex Bakery
Description: We are an award-winning, Real Bread bakery specialising in Sourdoughs & world breads. We hand make everything ourselves on the premises, and only use organic flour. We care about slow food & take our time to make bread well the old-fashioned way, so that it's tolerable to digest and utterly delicious.

Amazing cakes and gorgeous, frothy, piping hot coffee. I warn you that their prices are up there with the likes of Costa but worth a treat. Lovely staff who take the time to look after the Big Issue seller with hot drinks when it's cold. Awww....

Thanks Justine - for choosing us & recognising our lovely staff!
But blimey maybe we need to put our prices up soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We have top quality & provenance of ingredients - only using organic flour, free range meat & eggs and no additives, the best in patisserie butter etc. We only hand-make everything on the premises ourselves, and develop our recipes to be extremely healthy. Plus we offer the best coffee in Little Chalfont thanks to Monmouth coffee and local Lacey's unhomogenised farm milk.
All this means we're actually comparing ourselves to the very best of the best and are determined to be way above Little Chalfont neighbours selling you long-life rubbish from big factories & van deliveries...
We hope you'll see there's really no comparison in the value we offer.... and that you choose to visit us again!!!! #passionate #realbread #slowfood

I visit the Rex as often as I can, that's not often enough for me. It's been such a superb addition to the area, as you see so many locals like us flocking to the business, each and every time I visit. I wanted to say, keep up the good work and thank you for providing such a wonderful service providing real quality produce made onsite. If you have not visited you certainly should, without doubt the best bakery for miles around.

I really, really wanted this establishment to be great but, alas, it falls just short because the coffee is too hit and miss. It depends on who makes it for you... They serve Monmouth beans (a rarity around these parts) but only one in three cups I've had has actually been of Monmouth quality. A real shame.

Plus, the flat white measures are far too large (latte-sized).

Hi fellow flat white fan! We are really sorry you feel like this. Happily, many many other friends of Rex happily enjoy their personal & specific preferences for flat whites & indeed all our Rex Monmouth coffees, every single day. Our small team of baristas are equally trained to aim for a lower volume of (Guernsey cow, unhomogenised, totally delicious) milk to 3 shots of just-ground Monmouth espresso, to a velvety rather than frothy texture - so we underfill our latte cups. We don't do different sized takeaway cups, even for espresso :) However, if you're ever unhappy with your coffee from Rex or any of our award winning Real Bread or bun range, please don't hesitate to raise it in person so we can rectify. We can't sort it out if you only tell us on here via a review lol :( :(
Hope we see you again soon xx

My family are regulars to the point we don't know how many loyalty cards we've collected since they opened. Food and drink aside the business is lucky enough to have some genuinely passionate people working for it who go out of their way to ensure that anyone coming in either for a sit down lunch or loaf to go leave the shop happy.

It's a wonderful place full of fantastic breads and other tasty morsels. My regular being a sausage roll and double mac combo, my sons like the little choc buns and my wife is fond of an extra hot cap. and veg soup.

You get what you pay for and whilst there may be cheaper options out there, you know at Rex that the ingredients and skill are top notch.

Special mention must go to Nikki and the team who really go out of their way to make us fussy villagers happy with the best baked goods in town!

Keep it up Team Rex

We're thrilled that you like our lovely staff & breads so much! Just a word on the prices - given that we only use organic flour, and that our healthy Sourdoughs take 3 days to make using long fermentation methods by skilled artisans on the premises each morning - we strongly believe our breads are BETTER VALUE than anything else you can buy locally!!!! All good things do take time - yes our coffees take a couple of minutes to make - because we freshly grind & then espresso a double shot of Monmouth coffee, and aerate & blend in local Lacey's Farm unhomogenised Guernsey cow milk for each cup. Delivered by our skilled baristas, this must make Rex coffee the best in Little Chalfont :)
We're going to award our wonderful shop manager for your fab comment on her, and hope we see you again very soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
