“A must: home cooked food at its best ”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 October 2013 via mobile

Many times we've passed this lovely looking place, today we stopped for lunch: with my partner, son & his girlfriend. We were greeted by a very pleasant man, very polite & friendly. The menu was very varied & lots of choice. Home cooking at its best. Worth a stop & food served all day. I will defiantly stop again

“for a bed and a breakfast, you can't go wrong”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 October 2013

I stayed at the Sibson because it was close to a studio near by where i was going to have a late night shoot.
The rooms were clean and tidy, so was the bathroom.
The reception staff were very nice and polite and offered to help with my needs.
I didn't have time to eat there so i can't comment on the quality of food.

“Good service, ok food lovely restaurant!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 September 2013 via mobile

Went Sat 28th, for a wedding, and decided to eat in restaurant before we joined the wedding party. Very nice setup, bar man Jack very helpful!!
We ordered after a drink each, I had sirloin steak & trimmings and my wife had chicken casserole.
Being the only people in the place, our meals arrived after 40 minutes, presentation lovely, cut into my steak ... Over cooked!! I like medium rare, this was juicy but no pink inside and and no juice on the plate, even tho it was a nice piece of beef told the bar man it was over cooked so he could inform the chef, then got told the main chef was doing the wedding party , I should have guessed!! My wife said the chicken was probably pre cooked not fresh as it was particularly dry, but the casserole sauce was very tasty she described. But for nearly £40 for 3 drinks and 2 main courses quite pricey for the end result, would try again tho!!

“Best Inn on the A1 by miles”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2013

This lovely pub cum restaurant is oozing with charm and character. The warm welcome is matched by the superb food (from a great menu) served on crisp white table clothes and napkins to hand. You just don't expect this sort of unique service right on the side of one of the busiest roads in the country. It is the sort of place you may come across by accident miles out in the country but here it is slap bang on the A1 northbound in Rutland. We can't wait for an excuse to go up the A1 again. Lovely setting in the back for weddings also.

“they dont want passing trade at weekends”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 June 2013

called in today on a trip back north from cambridge.Saturday at 1 10pm,no one behind the bar,but wedding guests sat at the bar with trays of sandwiches.one hand pump on the bar although cask ales advertised, upon asking, no ale on at all.Opted for guiness, when a manager turned up and was asked if there would be ale on he shrugged and said he hadnt done anything about it today, they were only interested in a wedding that was on later that day.We decided not to even attempt food as that would have been a real inconvenience for any staff.3 years of driving past what looks like a gem destroyed in ten minutes

This is David, owner of the Sibson Inn
There was no question of us not serving food this lunchtime. Our wedding breakfast was not until 4.30 in the afternoon. We were open as usual and were serving food all day long. We had run out of real ale, this does happen and I'm sorry for that . The wedding ceremony was held here at 2pm and obviously the guests had congregated in the bar. If none wedding customers arrive for food we would do our best to serve them but occasionally it can be a bit of a squeeze for half an hour before the ceremony.
I am sorry you didn't get what you were expecting but I think your headline ' they dont want passing trade at weekends' is a bit over the top!!!
Regards
David
