“excellent dinner, wine and beers”
Reviewed 10 June 2012

this is a quietly kept secret value in the Cambs... countryside. the hotel allows for a great time to unwind , chat and mix with very friendly locals. The owner is very hospitable and keeps the place tip top. Excellent !!!

“Good food, messy service”
Reviewed 14 April 2012

This pub has a large seating area at the rear and is trying to create a gourmet of well cooked food.

I was disappointed to be crammed on a table that clearly wasnt big enough and I had to sit with a table leg wedged between my own legs.

The starte was very good and well presented, the downside was the food was served on large dark plates that had greasy marks or finger prints round the edges, very off putting ! Now I'm not sure if the waitress just had greasy hands or the dish washer wasn't up to the job.

I had the venison that was cooked perfectly yet again served on the same type if plates as the starters !!

The home made apple pie was average and I think was bought in, the service was very slow for drinks and wine. The evening was topped off by a waitress dropping drinks behind me and covering my shirt with coke.

Overall drinks and wine were priced at bar rates, food was cooked well but service was poor and those plates greasy.

“Good value”
Reviewed 12 February 2012

Very friendly and helpful staff. We attended a Valentines dinner/dance which was very reasonably priced. Food was excellent and attentive staff. Nothing was ever too much trouble for them. Highly recommended.

“Fantastic food and great value”
Reviewed 29 October 2011

Stayed on a DBB basis through hotel shop. The food was on par with that from any top rated establishment and the staff can't do enough to help. Rooms are simple but comfortable and there are some great walks nearby. Highly recommended!
