I took my 6 & 4 year old grandchildren here on Sunday and they had a lovely time. The staff were very friendly and informative. If you catch the train at Wansford and go to Yarwell to turn the train around then you go through a long dark tunnel! Tea & coffee is cheaper on the train apparently. We stopped off at Ferry Meadows where there is plenty of space for children to play, run around and have an ice cream. It is about a 5 min walk from the station to the main area. On returning to Wansford there were engines etc to see. Unfortunately Thomas the tank engine was away in the workshop having his 10 yearly boiler maintenance which was a shame. I thought that the price for a family was good value as you could hop on/off as much as you liked.

Friendly and pleasant staff. Beautifully presented and clean carriages and engines. A really good journey at a good price. Tea coffee and light refreshments available on the train at a reasonable cost. A more comprehensive menu is normally available at Wansford station from the smart and clean Buffet although on the day we went it was disappointing (although understandable) that hot meal service ceased at 11.00 as there was a Murder Mystery event later in the day. Sandwiches, pasties etc. were available and staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Well done everyone, an excellent show!

Whether you remember steam travel or were just raised on Thomas & his friends this will be a lovely escape to a past era. The site improves each year and the great enthusiasts and volunteers have done a tremendous job creating a living museum but also a fun experience for big kids and little ones

We took our grandchildren and son to the Nene Valley Railway today for a trip on the Teddy Special. It really was a brilliant day out. The staff really couldn't have done more to ensure that everyone enjoyed the visit. The whole day was just lovely. Thank you to all who run this, we will be back!

What can I say, simply speechless. It's a super little railway just of the A1 on the old Great North Road(Old A1), I am suprised more people don't visit. Myself and my cousin have a joint 50th this year so we planned an event, a nice gentleman at the railway made our headboard for the train and the cafe staff provided us with tea and cake. We had a super family and friends 50th picnic at Ferry Meadows. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble and everyone was v.friendly and helpful, the dogs people brought along had a field day and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. This is one preserved line we will definately be visting again.

Our only sadness is that the railway runs from somewhere(Peterborough city centre) to nowhere (Yarwell Junction), it would be good if the little town of Oundle could have been reached or on the other line at the Yarwell junction perhaps Seaton could be reached as the line passed under the world famous Harringworth Viaduct in the old days which surely would attract customers.

All in all a must visit place. Well done NVR, we cannot sing your praises highly enough.
