Took my wife here for a meal to celebrate her birthday. Hadn't booked as we were totally undecided on where we would end up after a drive around local countryside.
Warm welcome by bar staff who promptly arranged a table in the restaurant for us and we were given a choice of table despite having not booked. Some fresh bread and oil/balsamic dip to get us started. We were given options from the "specials board" and the main menu. Starters, mains and desserts were delicious, my wife particularly enjoyed the salmon and the Ballantine chicken was superb.
I would have given this a 5* rating except for 2 points. We were shown to our table immediately after ordering our drinks; a little too promptly, it would have been nice to lounge in the lovely leather chairs for a few minutes before being shown to a table. And secondly, we had to send the bill back as they had failed to charge us for our desserts! Maybe a 5* next time, and there definitely will be a next time!
