Positive:
1.We got the price down to £55 over the phone for one night.

Not so Positive:
1. The Place is a Dump!
2. Poo on the toilet seat!
3. group of 18 and 9 rooms were given to some one else,
4. Took 2 hours to get my money back
5. Water pouring though room 9 ceiling
6. water from room 9 going in to room 2,
7. Dirty! No guarantee that your not alone, when your in bed together with your partner
8. Staff had no idea what to do!
9. poo stains on the bed in room 9!
10, Cellar flats stunk + Dirty
11, there was a lot more wrong but i think i will be here all day haha!

The place is a heath risk, We choose not to stop here after seeing most of the room. we paid £95 for bed and breakfast at the local holiday Inn for £20 each extra, a lot better and its all you can eat breakfast!

In February this year, we booked to stay at this hotel for one night in July 2011 as we are going to a concert for our anniversary. Today, the hotel have telephoned and advised that, because Harrogate is busy that weekend, we have to either book for at least 2 nights or cancel. They have obviously found that they may be able to make more money out of the event because all the other hotels are now full.

As it's so near to the time of the event, so we have had to find a more expensive hotel further away. I find this disgraceful and I'm disgusted that this hotel have got away with potentially ruining our weekend and causing us to pay more money - had we been contacted earlier we could have found a nearer, more reasonable hotel.

I will never book this hotel again, and after reading the other reviews, would suggest that everyone else steers well clear!

Room Tip: Do not book this hotel under any circumstances!

Stayed here for two nights with my wife and 3 grown-up sons -three rooms. Apart from a shower on the first morning which could produce 3rd degree burns - not a problem the following day, the hotel provided cheap, clean, convenient accommodation. The Eastern European waiter was much better on the second morning when he had got used to us. Only problem was the Reception - which was done through a phone to the sister hotel. Certainly better than some reviews intimated.

There is only one word to describe the Aston and that is 'dump'. We should have stayed there in August but on seeing the room decided we just could not stop the night it was awful and we dreaded to think what the breakfast would be like. The furniture looked like it was from a junk shop, it was dirty, there was a huge spider in the glass in the bathroom, there was no plug in the sink or bath and top to the tap, kettle was on the floor and did not work and there were old duvets in the bottom of the wardrobe. The place should be condemed it is that bad. The owner is the most rude person you could ever wish to meet. We have tried to get our money back because we did not stop the night but she is having none of it. Please be warned do not book this 'hotel' if you can call it that as you will be wasting your money.

booked this hotel without reading reviews MY FIRST MISTAKE!!!!!!!, and it was too late to cancel when we discover what we had booked. BEWARE WILL CHARGE YOU FULL PRICE IF YOU CANCEL UP TO 3 DAYS BEFORE ARRIVAL DATE,

on arrival the out side of the hotel hasn't seen a gardener for years, and that turned out to be the posh bit, we were met by a young man that was running between a number of hotels to greet people, he was clueless as to our booking and was very flustered, he requested full payment on check in which I refused to pay untill I was happy with my stay.
Breakfast we were told was between 8am - 9.30am by the guy that checked us in, he also told us we would have to use the buzzer to get in to the hotel as the lock on the front door was dodgy,
He showed us to the room which I was told was the new refurbished room, it smelt damp, the carpet was old grotty green stained carpet that ran right into the bathroom, the beds were cheap old beds that made for the worst nights sleep ever !
the bathroom was so grotty that I didn't wash for two days, there was never hot water if you were brave enough to risk god knows what by standing in the bath,
breakfast was served by a young girl with very little english, breakfast was ok but we were told at 9.50 that we would have to finish up and leave as she was closing the dinning room.
on returning to the hotel at 10.30pm we discovered the buzzer was not working and we were locked out for over half an hour only gained access by ringing a number displayed " IN CASE OF ELECTRIC FAILURE RING THIS NUMBER "
On the second morning the guy working the dining room refused us breakfst at 8.50am after a dispute he agreeded to serve us half way through serving us he disappeared returning having changed into a filthy tracksuit we later discovered he was also the chef
When checking out we were looked after by a young english girl (only well mannered person working in the hotel) she was very understanding to our complaints and contacted the owner to request a discount for our horrible experience while she spoke to the owner we could hear the owner screaming a horrid of abuse about our complaints and that we were the problem, the owner Mrs banks then arrived and continued to scream abuse directly at us. she evenually agreeded to give us £15.00 discount we accepted this in the hope she would stop shouting abuse at us about the beautiful hotel she runs and we are the only people to complain all review on webs site are lies,
we paid by cash and received a receipt with discount agreed
As we left the building walking she ran out the door saying she now got the front door key to work and we need to come back and see to which we refused as it was the night before we needed it to work , Mrs banks returned to the hotel but again ran down the road after us saying the did work for her, by now we were about 200mts from the hotel and she again started shouting abuse at us and that she was revoking my discount, which she did by charging my credit without my permission
