“A wonderful stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 September 2013

A wonderful comfortable place to stay in central Harrogate. We have been staying here for the last few years when on business in Harrogate, its well situated for the centre of town, with off street parking and a nicely cooked breakfast.
But for me the thing that sets the Alamah apart from the countless other B&Bs is the wonderful welcome from both Judy and Sue. Nothing is too much trouble for them, from advice on eating places, travelling through town, even showing me the scrambled eggs to check they were the right consistency. I feel like I am staying with friends not just in a B&B.
I am looking forward to my next business trip there in November.
Thank you

Thank you for your 2nd review of your stays at the Alamah. It's always a pleasure to see returning guests, whether for business or pleasure, especially one as loyal as you. Looking forward to seeing you again for your next 2 business trips at the end of this year.

From the moment you arrive everything is perfectly arranged for a hassle free stay. Nothing is too much trouble and help is always close at hand should it be needed. Judy and Sue clearly have an eye for detail and every aspect of the accommodation and service have been thoughtfully prepared and honed to perfection. Particular thanks for preparing our full breakfast for a very early Sunday departure.

We stayed earlier in the year when visiting my poorly mother-in-law. Judy and Sue were simply wonderful and upgraded us to the family room which was enormous! The breakfasts were fantastic, and I totally fell in love with their cats (not allowed in the B&B but were roaming free outside) - thank you thank you thank you. Bearing in mind that my partner and I both work in hotels, so we know what is good and what isn't! There is nothing in the "isn't" section in this B&B. It is simply fabulous.

We've tried booking a couple of times since but they are always fully booked, which is great for them, so word must have got out.

Thanks again.

An excellent place to stay - very clean, beautifully decorated, fantastic food for vegetarians, free wifi, very close to the town centre. Judy and Sue are so friendly and make you feel so welcome as soon as you step through the door. The photos of places to visit are beautifully displayed ( taken by Judy) and show The Yorkshire countryside at its best. If you ever go to Harrogate - the Alamah is the best place to stay - very highly recommend it.

This is a superb B & B and Judy and Sue are excellent hosts. Very helpful in suggesting places to vist. Excellent breakfast served with a smile. Very tastefully decorated with superb photographs of the area throughout the house. The bedroom was of a good size and the complimentary drinks tray was excellent with bottled water, biscuits, hot chocolate, coffee and tea. Will definately return if we visit Harrogate again. Thanks for an enjoyable stay.

Judy and Sue went above and beyond to make my stay at the Alamah guest house comfortable and enjoyable. I had a single ensuite which was immaculate. Quality bedding and a very comfortable sleep.

Hospitality tray in the room brimming with biscuits, teas, coffee and branded hot chocolate and local bottled water, all replenished daily.

Spacious shower and sweet little toiletrees. Again absolutely spotless in the bathroom too.

The breakfast room is a peaceful haven to start the day with the backdrop of classical music playing softly in the background. Breakfast itself, cooked to perfection. Fresh filter coffee, sea salt in the shaker, freshly cut fruit in the fruit salad and just squeezed orange juice in the pitcher. Its all in the detail and Judy and Sue have thought of everything.

So sweet are the ladies; they even managed to print some important documents for me when I needed them quickly, using their own printer.

They also went out of their way to accommodate my luggage which needed to be stored after I had already checked out.

Location is literally a few steps away from the International Conference Centre.

No wonder the Alamah is consistently occupied, it delivers in every way.

Many thanks Judy and Sue!

It's always nice to feel you can safely recommend somewhere to friends and family; Alamah, run by Judy and Sue, is definitely one of those places. My friend Jackie and I couldn't fault this smashing bed and breakfast situated on a leafy road just five minutes' walk from Harrogate's town centre. Some on-site parking is available at the rear.

We received a lovely warm welcome on arrival and lots of information about where to eat and how to find our way round town. The house is tastefully decorated and our room was spotless with high quality bedding and extremely comfy mattresses. All the usual things you expect from a 4 star as well - good choice of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and Harrogate Spa Water on the hospitality tray with cookies as well! A hairdryer, radio/alarm/iPod dock, wall-mounted tv plus reading lamps completed the extras. There was plenty of storage, seating and spare sheets/blankets for anyone too hot or cold. Sockets and mirrors were sensibly located and easy to reach - how many times have you struggled to find somewhere to plug in the hairdryer? They seem to have thought of everything.

Breakfast was served in the lovely dining room, the walls boasting many of Judy's photographs of the region. Tables were set with high quality tableware and breakfast was exceptionally good. Cereals, fresh fruit, juice, yogurt were laid out to help-yourself. I can't recommend Judy's poached eggs enough; she also did scrambled eggs for some guests and brought the pan in to check if they were done to their taste before serving!

Judy and Sue clearly love being amongst people and providing an excellent service. They are willing to go the extra mile for guests where needed, including doing internet research and offering lifts in the car! They clearly enjoy the chance to chat with their guests and seemed in no hurry to see us go! So all in all an excellent stay and I hope we get the chance to go back.

Keep up the good work girls!!

Jackie and Jean
