I took my two grandsons (9 and 11) to Al Bivio without having booked, on a Saturday evening (5.30) when they were, obviously, very busy. They were charming, found us a table and never once made us feel de trop. Despite offering the boys children's portions, they weren't phased when both ordered adult pizzas (particularly when the younger one ordered a second - children's size this time!) plus adult ice-creams with chocolate sauce.
The welcome for children is something I have only seen second-hand before (I usually dine there with a friend) but their treatment is warm, genuine and excellent.
Possibly, because they are made to feel part of the restaurant, all the children who do dine there seem to behave well. Something to do with the Mediterranean culture perhaps?
