Self Catering Breaks at Rudding Park
Reviewed 1 July 2013

I am posting this review a year after actually staying in the Portrush Lodge in July 2012. We rented the lodge for 5 nights during which our daughter had her wedding at Rudding Park Hotel. We could not fault the lodge, we entertained our guests at the lodge who were also attending the wedding, the staff from the hotel made our experience easy, relaxing and alot of fun, nothing was too much trouble, even down to housekeeping bringing us extra glasses etc. The clocktower food was excellent, the breakfast was the best we have ever had, all made extra good by the courteous, friendly staff. We would fully recommend this experience to everyone and would hope to stay again sometime in the future.

stayed for just 1 night in our new 8 man tent... It was £41.00 for 1 night including electric hook up - So for 2 adults, 5 kids, 2 dogs and 2 cars it wasnt a bad price... My only complaint was that we then had to pay £3.25 per child for the heated outdoor pool... I thought this was a little high as camping is supposed to be a cheaper alternative to hotels etc... Tiolets and showers all clean...

We stayed in the Duck Nest Loft, a self catering lodge for two persons. It has a fully fitted kitchen, lovely clean bathroom and a very comfortable large bed, with excellent linen, fluffy pillows and super soft towels and Molton Brown toiletries.
The real paradise of this place is the setting, you enter up the side stairs and as you are one floor up the views are beautiful, the farm animals that surround the loft give a real sense of escaping from the rat race.
Rudding Park is beautiful and is set in the most amazing park land. There are plenty a picturesque villages to walk to and lovely village pubs to have a hearty meal at.
We will be back, it's just too beautiful not too!

We stayed in one of the Lodges with a hot tub for 3 nights in May. The Lodge was spotless and well equipped. The grounds were beautiful and even though it rained for 2 days we had a very relaxing time.
The hotel staff were very helpful and we were provided with transport from our lodge to the hotel and back when we dined at the restaurant.
Treatments at the Spa were very reasonably priced and the staff couldn't do enough for you.
Harrogate and Wetherby are really close and the local Sainsbury's was great to stock up on wine!!!
Highly recommended

After a couple of weekend breaks at the hotel, we decided we'd like to give the holiday lodges a whirl with a couple of friends. Our previous experiences of the hotel meant we had been waxing lyrical to our friends about it. Needless to say they were not disappointed. The staff on arrival have to be the most welcoming, polite and professional staff I've experienced at any hotel. After checking in we were immediately shown to the lodge. The setting was stunning and the lodge itself was an extension of the hotels immaculate presentation and finish.

After settling in and enjoying a dip in the hot tub we then headed back to the Clock Tower restaurant, and as we were running late we were picked up by the onsite private car which was great. Again the staff were professional and welcoming. The food was simply divine and beautifully presented, the atmosphere of the restaurant also adds to the experience.

After a great night we headed back to the lodge and decided to take another dip in the hot tub and watch the sun set and the stars come out. What an experience!

On our second day we decided to have a barbecue as it was a beautiful day, however we soon realised that we seemed to missing the all important barbecue. After ringing reception it was a matter of minutes before one was delivered, set up and tested by two of the park staff. As expected they were efficient, polite and professional, thanks guys!

I can not rate this place highly enough. If I was to mention all the small details I would be writing for hours. All I need to say is that our friends were so impressed we are already planning our next trip back and I can not wait.

Thanks to all the Rudding Park staff for their professionalism, efficiency and kindness. A particular thank you to the hotel manager, after dealing with an issue on a previous stay he wrote to us personally to invite us back. All I can say is you've won over another two very happy people with this stay!

This is a review of the selfcatering lodges which are part of the Rudding Park Resort. It was perfect for three sisters who like to indulge once a year with a luxury 4 day break. This year we decided to opt for a lodge where we could have a late breakfast, chill out in front of the fire in our PJs, drink champagne in the hot tub, and generally relax in our own space. Having the facilities of a luxury resort at our disposal made the break perfect. The lodge was beautiful with high-end furnishings and equipment. As we were guests at the resort we had full access to all the facitlities including the excellent Clock Tower restaurant and spa. The lodges are set in the grounds of Rudding Park and while it was a pleasant 10 minute walk through the park to the main building, the hotel provided a car pick-up service for those times when we didn't want to walk - we simply had to pick up the phone and dial 0 and we were through to reception. the same servie was provided when we wanted to return to our lodge. At all times we were made to feel like guests at the hotel even though we were 'off-site'. The staff did everything to make us feel welcome. A small problem with the shower was quickly fixed by calling reception.
If you are looking for all the advantages of a luxury resort combined with the freedom of 'self-catering' then this is perfect.

Room Tip: Port Rush lodge has a lovely view of the small lake and a hot tub.

We stayed at Rudding Park Campsite in our 19 year old touring caravan late March. We arrived and reported to the reception and were greeted with friendly smiles from the staff, who went out of their way to show us to our pitch. This wasn't easy as the snow was quite deep. The site manager escortd us and made sure that we knew where everything was and that we were settled before he left. The toilet block was the cleanest I have ever been in and although there was snow and the temperature was below freezing the heating was constantly on and it was toasty warm.. The hot water was instant when we had a shower and there was an adequate supply. Thankyou to Chris who looked after the toilet blocks. The restaurant in the grounds (Think it was the Deer Lodge) was cosy and the staff were very friendly. The lovely lady even turned on the fire for us as we esconsed ourselves in the 'snug'. The meals looked good although we didn't eat there, but we spent two pleasant evenings getting to know the other 'campers' who were there for the Caravan show at the Yorkshire Showground (we did buy a brand new caravan when we were there - only went to buy accessories for the old one!!!) Overall a great experience and we will go back when the weather improves.
