Description: Fodder is the home of tasty, local, food based on the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate. Fodder sells the very best food and drink from Yorkshire; with a fully stocked butchery counter, a deli counter laden with fresh pies, pasties and amazing cheese. Fruit and veg straight from the farms and lots of lovely jams and chutneys alongside freshly baked local bread and mouthwatering cakes. Fodder also has a lovely cafe which serves everything from a full Yorkshire Breakfast through to cream teas and an extensive lunch menu. Fodder is run and championed by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society and acts as a shop window for local farmers and producers giving a crucial local market for their produce. The shop is Britain's first charitable food hall with all profits re-invested to benefit the rural community. Fodder is dedicated to delivering the best possible service to its customers. In fact, we have regular mystery shopping reviews to help maintain their high standards of customer care.

I visited Fodder today with my mum, and it was super. We were seated promptly, the food came quickly, and it was just how we like it to be cooked. Cakes are fabulous!!! The staff are so friendly, and would recommend it every time! My favourite place, so drive down to Yorkshire, and forget the Tour De France ...Come to Fodder!

“Very disappointing”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 May 2014 via mobile

My wife and I visited Fodders last Sunday with two friends for breakfast. We were greeted and seated promptly and our order taken immediately, we waited twenty minutes for our drinks which were incorrect when we received them, and then had to wait nearly one hour for our cooked breakfast to arrive. During this time we complained ( politely) several times and we were informed that they were having computer problems, however, we did notice that several customers who arrived after us had received their cooked food! During the long time we were waiting for our breakfasts we ordered additional hot drinks and as these failed to arrive within thirty minutes, we again had to remind the waitress on three occasions before they finally arrived. Perhaps if there was problems it would have greatly improved the situation if the manager had come to us to explain instead of sending messages with the waitress. I am very sorry to report that we will not be rushing back to Fodders.

Please accept our sincere apologies – for some reason there was a blip with your order – which appears to have been ‘blocked’ by the till – weirdly; it was only your order all day that there was a problem with, which is why other people’s orders were arriving before yours. We have spoken with the software people to rectify this. Also unfortunately our café manager was on the coffee machine all day as the barista was unexpectedly off, so she could not speak to you directly. Neither of these things are your fault and we are all sorry that we have spoilt your Sunday morning. If you would be kind enough to contact us on 01423 546111 we would like to offer you a free breakfast – to tempt you back in and show you that last Sunday was a one-off. Again, please accept our apologies.

“Excellent lunch destination”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 May 2014 via mobile

First visit and suitably impressed. Busy at lunchtime with a large proportion of ladies. Queue of about ten moved quickly and we were soon shown to a table. Service was surprisingly quick and the food (Yorkshire platter and baked Brie ) both excellent and generous portions.

Certainly worth a return visit

This is a very popular restaurant based on local produce and very nice it is too. Go for the plough mans for lunch if you like a good fill and your a cheese lover! Nice sandwiches if you want something lighter. Lovely service and a fab shop supporting local growers. Top stuff.

“Lovely Cafe and shop ”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2014 via mobile

I have visited this lovely little cafe several times now and each time the staff have been friendly and helpful, the food has been excellent, everything is very fresh and only the best produce is used, they do a lovely side salad with a celeriac salad that is very tasty indeed, they serve breakfast up to 11,30 then sandwiches only until 12 then full menu with some lovely choices. The shop is well stocked with some interesting items and makes for a lovely browse round, truly lovely place.

Thank Sue W
