stayed here last weekend on a kgb deal. first impressions very good, huge room in the annexe and lovely looking bathroom.
nice bedlinen and towels
snags... had to ask for bathrobes which were meant to be there, also noticed we had no tumblers for water or spoon rest, which my parents in next room got.

If the hotel paid attention to small inconsistencies and details i would have rated 5.
Also bath corners were moulding even though the overall look of the bathroom was impressive... cannot understand them allowing small jobs to spoil it
the loobrush was not clean either... However the rest of the cleaning was immaculate.
breakfast the best ever. needs attention to replenishing on saturdays and better tureens.... the lids were huge and cumbersome. otherwise 5star quality food .
evening meal was also excellent .
will definitely return, hoping that they have worked on the small details, harrogate was lovely

My husband and I have stopped at the Kimberly hotel 3 times and we will not be going back.

Our reasons are as follows

1. Price increase
2. No internet all the time we were there and no body was bothered all we got told was well it is working in reception !! we were there for 4days.

3. Winter weight quilts on bed and far to warm
4. Dust on top of wardrobe never been dusted in months.
5.Drinks and food very expensive
6.Never asked when we checked out if we had enjoyed our stay
7. £6.00 to park in car park per 24 hours. Dinners in restaurant free.
8. Three hour parking all round hotel and yes you can find a space you might have to walk a few hundred yards but you can park for 3 hours EXCEPT ON THE LEFT HANDSIDE OF HOTEL AND IT IS 30 MINUTES AND YOU WILL GET A TICKET AS WE DID AS YOU CAN NOT SEE SIGN FOR TREES
9. Towels were never changed just folded up wet and put back on rack.
10. Pigeons roosting outside our room on a night.

This is a shame because the Kimberly use to be a lovely hotel .

Although the room we had was in the budget range, it was large, well furnished and spotlessly clean. The hotel is within easy reach of the town centre. The staff were efficient and friendly and we would have no hesitation in using this hotel again.

Stayed overnight on a deal including dinner, Room was very nice, modern and good facilities. A little bit of noise from the upper floor but not a lot they could do about that. The carpark is tight and there is a £6 charge for using it which was a bit of a surprise. The evening meal was excellent and even the house wine was worth having. Make sure you take money though as it is a separate operation from the hotel. Breakfast was a self serve buffet and again was very good - staff were very good.

Booked two nights here 18th/19th July through Bookings.Com room only £100, then I saw on T.A that other people had stayed recently for as little as £99 B&B so I rang the hotel directly to query the prices. Apparently this was a KGB (?) deal which was no longer available.
So I enquired as to the extra cost to add breakfast to my deal, this is appx £8.50 pp for a buffet style breakfast that we wouldnt justify, so I declined, but the receptionist did then suggest to me that I could get a much nicer room for just £9 extra per night.
This made me wonder what kind of a room I HAD got but other than saying it was a 'budget' room and up~grades were 'much nicer' she didnt seem to want to commit to saying more. In the event for just £18 extra I up~graded and how grateful I am she suggested it.It seemed that all budget rooms are on the ground floor (not 100% certain) and looking at the lay out its hard to imagine that they could be very light or large?.
However we had a huge light 1st floor room with wide bay window (room 1102) and the most gorgeous oak tree outside (which baffled the road sounds abit but really after 11.30ish it went very quiet) that sported tiny twinkling blue lights in its branches when it went dark (well I liked it!) however this didnt affect our sleep as very heavy curtains cut out all light once drawn.Windows are also double glazed and, big bonus, can be fully opened if you want more air.
We had generously sized twin beds, spotless linen, spare pillows in the wardrobe, ample storage for clothes and a huge wall mounted tv. plus the usual tea~making facilities. The room had been re~furbished I think, though I found the brown/mushroom/gold/cream decor abit drab but I suppose wear and tear has to be considered and light colours wouldnt do.
The bathroom wasnt very big, but there was a full size bath with good hot shower, big hand basin, ample clean towels and the room itself was spotless as was the bedroom.
Most impressive of all two problems arose during our stay which were dealt with immediately and no fuss at all. 1)Very minor, the loo roll holder fell off, we told reception on our way out mainly because we didnt want them thinking we had yanked it off, and certainly didnt think it would be fixed during our stay, but when we returned it was done.
2) One of the beds had a very soft mattress, infact it sagged towards the middle and though good quality was definately ready for re~placing. However we thought if we just turned it it would do, gulp, no mattress protector and a huge stain right in the middle. This we reported immediately half expecting to have to demand another room/mattress but 'no problem at all, we'll sort that out today' and they did, on our return we found a nice firm clean mattress on the bed (still no mattress cover but maybe they dont use them, not sure why?) and fresh bed linen.
Ontop of this super efficient service and lovely room,it is a maximum 10min walk to the town centre and the same to the railway station (we went by train). On this basis I would recommend a stay but I think the extra money is worth paying to ensure a better room.

Room Tip: If you can afford it, avoid 'budget' rooms bookings.
