“Harrogate trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 February 2014

Spent a weekend in Harrogate to visit friends and stayed at the Kimberley. Location as well as good remarks on tripadvisor helped me make up my mind to stay. The town is only a short distance and we met in the town, so walked there easily. Clean, nice room and friendly competent reception staff. Great buffet breakfast. Found it good value and would stay again.

Stayed in a wowcher deal. Check in ok but had ask what time breakfast was and didn't tell us where it would be. Stayed in room 2306 no view cos windows were sky lights room very clean. Nice fluffy towels comfy bed. The only flaw couldn't turn the bedside lights off by the bed had to get out of bed to do it. The air con was noisy when it turned itself on. Had a couple of drinks in bar which was expensive but served by a very pleasant man. Breakfast was tasteless and dry. Service was there's your table help yourself had to ask to order for tea and toast. On check out tried to charge us when I already paid when bought the wowcher. £6 to park as well. Bit of a cheek. Close to town

We have stayed numerous time in both executive and deluxe rooms & been quite happy on all stays. (Other than the very off handish make Receptionist, NOT Chris!)
I bought 2 living social vouchers as gifts & paid for the upgrade to deluxe rooms. (The Deluxe rooms had just been finished on our first stay and it was brilliant and sparkling clean); however less than a year later the bathroom has mould on shower screen, tiles, grouting & taps. The towel rail has dust ALL over it and the bathrobes. . . . . . My 4yr old robe at home is in better condition!! 2 rips in the sleeve of 1 & holes in the other; I paid for 2 rooms to be upgraded, wish I hadn't!!!
The duty manager came and personally cleaned the towel rail & apologised for the robes. (These were replaced whilst we were out) I didn't catch her name, but thank you! If it want for Chris on Reception being SO helpful on last occasion and on booking this stay, don't think is stay again!! Duty manager very helpful too.

We have recently visited the kimberley hotel as part of my 40th birthday celebrations. I booked ten rooms originally through booking.com and we had a mixture of exec, standard and budget rooms held. I finalised the numbers in the week leading up to our stay and the reservations manager couldn't have been more helpful in swapping an changing people about, even making some rooms a triple so that people didnt have to share with people they didn't know very well. We arrived early so our rooms weren't ready, we were allowed to keep our bags in a locked cupboard while we went out to eat. On our return we all checked in and there was a problem with one of the rooms being double booked so the girls were given a complimentary bottle of wine in the bar while it was resolved (which took all of 2 mins!) The receptionist (Chris) helped my room mates and I to our room as we had quite a few bags etc he saw us to our room and I have to say through the whole stay he couldnt' have been more helpful and attentive! Our room was an exec room and was fantastic, it had everything we needed and more. I haven't heard any complaints from the other girls either so think they must have all felt the same. All the public areas in the hotel were spotless as was our room. The hotel was in a great location for the conference centre and the town centre just a short walk away. All in all we will definitely be returning!

We recently had a weekend in Harrogate and took advantage of a January offer and got one of the new Annexe rooms at a knockdown price. We've stayed in the main part of the hotel before and while it was nice, the Annexe is fabulous, especially the bathrooms. The breakfast was superb, lots to choose from on the buffet but you can also order things like kippers etc. The hotel is just behind the Exhibtion Centre and about a 5 min walk from the town centre, so very well situated. We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Try and get a room in the Annexe, the rooms are newer.

The hotel looked very nice from the outside on arrival. The reception area was clean and modern.
The room I stayed in needed a deep clean. The bathroom was disgusting, the bath had thick black mold all the way round it, the plug in the sink was rusty. The toilet was so close to the bath, you had to sit at an angle..
My parents room, on first seeing it was wow, then oh. The carpet was full of stains, the room smelt of smoke, big chunks of paint were peeling off the ceiling, the tiles on the bathroom floor were cracked and loose, the bed had not been made properly (not sure if the sheets had been changed) and the cupboard holding the kettle and coffee cups was dirty and had not been cleaned . The Kimberly should be ashamed to offer rooms like this.
