“Very nice hotel with fab breakfast”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 March 2010

We only stayed at the Kimberley hotel overnight but found it to be very informal friendly and very comfortable.
The room we stayed in was probably not the best one in the hotel on the 2nd floor but it was clean with all the amenities and having only paid under £60 for the two of us with full Yorkshire breakfast we certainly were not complaining.
We found the staff very friendly and the service in the restaurant was excellent.
The breakfast was one of the best we have ever had.
We would definitely stay there again.

our 3rd stay at this hotel so obviously we rate it nice room upgrade
we ate at the terrace bistro in the hotel and was quite impressed
the hotel is in a great location to walk into town 3mins but removed enough to be peaceful when you call it a day
shame about the reception staff on check out who seemed to be slagging off customers in a high voice on the phone whilst other guests waited to check out a little fine tuning wouldnt go a mis here and there

We had booked a different hotel for this our anniversary weekend but were double booked on our arrival, so were moved to the Kimberley, I have to say the Kimberley was fantastic.
Positives - Wonderful breakfast very extensive choice and I am really fussy! very clean spacious room, excellent facilities in the room, husband loved the tv, walking distance to the town centre which has some lovely shops etc
Negatives - didnt like the 'hospital' protective cover on the bed, small carpark, we parked on the road along with others, staff reluctant to grit to help cars out in the snow, corridors were cold in the 'annex' building, having said this it is February.

Would definately stay again, quite glad the other hotel double booked us.didnt have an evening meal but other guests were positive about the food. Had a drink in the Terrace bar under the hotel which was equally as good.

Stayed for a weekend in a standard double room at the rear of the older part of the main building. The room had been recently refurbished and so was still in very good condition. The view out of the window was just a wall several metres away but as only used the room as a base to sleep was not at all bothered by this. Although only a standard room it had all of the facilities we wanted - tea/coffee making, full sized ironing board and iron, trouser press, toiletries, table and 2 arm chairs, large flat screen tv, free wifi. It wasn't the biggest of spaces but more than adequate for a couple. The bed was also a 'small double' - but again not too small to be an issue.
All of the staff were very friendly and service at breakfast excellent. Even on the Sunday morning when very busy the hot buffet was kept stocked. In fact the breakfast options very very good and the cooked food great considering it was a buffet.
Car parking could be a problem but we arrived at about 5pm on a Friday evening and there was plenty of spaces free.
We had been lucky enough to get a very deal on laterooms.com - £59 / room BB. Would I have been quite as pleased if paying the £130 some guests paid for the same room....??
All in all a very nice hotel just 10 mins walk into town.

The staff were really helpful both when booking, arriving and during the stay. I managed secure a cheaper booking by ringing a few days before arrival and secured an executive room. the room was lovely, nice and quiet even though it was on the front (although it would be noisier is you needed the windows open). the bathroom was massive, althougth not as plush as it could have been given the size of it. Bed v comfy. Distance from the town was 5/10 mins walk, although you'd be best advised asking easiest way to find it at the hotel. Breakfast was OK, nothing better or worse than the normal buffet breakfast, we did have to go back to our rooms and wait as there was a 'queue' of people be served. they warned us there was a 20 min wait, however they rang us to say our table was ready after 10 mins. I would happily stay there again, however I would feel slightly robbed if I was paying full price.

I booked the Kimberley as I had read some great reviews about the hotel. I was in harrogate for a friends birthday and as the hotel was only a few minutes walk to the town centre the location was ideal. As soon as we went to reception we were made to feel welcome. We had one of the newly refurbished rooms which was lovely. Beautifully decorated and with wine and chocolates in the room it was worth paying that little bit extra. We even had a teddy bear which we could take home. We had a drink in the bar before going out. The service was excellent and the bar had a very warm cosy feel. Breakfast was fantastic with everything you would want and really set you up for the day.

Very friendly, helpful staff, warm and welcoming reception. We booked the Thai room, for a treat, the bed was very comfortable but the two thin pillows were very hard. More were brought quickly on request. The en suite was cold (lots of snow outside) the radiator was not working, the element had burnt out, but not been repaired, (the handyman was aware of this) consequently the towels were cold and damp.
The food was superb! New menu introduced on the second night which was truly imaginative. Chicken breast stuffed with strawberry and cranberry mousse an absolute dream! Yorkshire hot pot with mutton, kidney and black pudding with a 'proper' crust was also fantastic! Well done chef! Adam the bar keeper was very helpful recommending wines. Lovely touches of good quality toiletries, a Kimberley Teddy bear and a good quality bottle of wine in the room. The radiator couldn't be repaired but we were not offered any discount when checking out, which would have been a nice gesture given our total bill.
