“The Kimberley going down hill”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 July 2010

I have stayed at the Kimberley twice, the first time (in March 2010) I would rate it at 3 out of 10. In July 2010 the amenities have plummeted. Today I have been at the Kimberley for 7 days and the bed linens have not been changed yet. In March they provided two bottles of drinking water each day, now there were two bottles upon check in only. As they realized I was the only person staying in the room they only provided one set of towels. The floor has not been vacuumed. The bathroom need greater attention during cleaning around the toilet. The have only provided two sachets of soap and shampoo during my stay. The restaurant food is marginal. The Breakfast Buffet is nice however it is scheduled to open at 7am but the food is not ready until 7:15am. The staff was the shining star in this lump of coal during my previous stay however their attention to detail has waned. Parking is limited and poorly organized. The hotel underwent a major renovation with additions just a year ago and the new spaces are already showing signs of old age, poor craftsmanship, and lack of maintenance, cracks in walls, tiles separating from the tub wall, shower doors frames rusting, installation stickers still on the toilets, toilet seat bolts starting to visibly corrode. In the age of satellite TV only 10 channels. It seams as though getting the 4th star rating was the only reason for the March amenities, now they are chasing customers away by scaling back their services. My current rating is 1.5.

Had a two night stay at the Kimberley whilst attending a conference at the Harrogate Centre conveniently located just a couple of hundred yards down the road. It was a thoroughly pleasant experience in a comfortable bistro type hotel. I have a thing about limp hard towels and uncomfortable beds but I was perfectly satisfied on both of these counts. The Kimberley has nice decor and a pleasant tmosphere. Staff were extremely efficient (and apologetic) when some inebriated idiot set off the fire alarm at 3:30 am one morning but they dealt with the situation quietly and effectively. Restaurant service is excellent and although I only partook of the buffet breakfast whilst staying at the hotel, the food was of very good quality. The bar seemed to be well stocked and was also very nice with an outside terrace - there was plenty of room to network or have a quiet drink whilst catching up with emails. I've never stayed in Harrogate before, but I'd certainly go back there on a leisure trip with my better half to do a bit a bit of sightseeing and shopping.

we stayed here a few years ago before they did the extention at the rear, we thought then that our room was beautiful, now they have totally refurbished it, it looks better than we could have ever imagined.
not only were the bedrooms finished to an high quality, but the downstairs was also very impressive.
it was obvious that a good deal of time and money had been spent on this and was well worth every penny!
all the staff were very friendly and aproachable.
would definatly come back again and the location was fantastic!
our only grumble that we did have was the prices at the bar, it was far cheaper to go into town for a drink.

My husband and I stayed at the Kimberley for one night 22nd May 2010. We booked with some last minute.com vouchers we were given as a gift. It is a very nice, well run hotel. Lots of nice touches, bottle of wine in room. Teddy bear, chocs and toiletries to take home. We decided to upgrade as the room we were given although it was a very nice room, was on the ground floor and had a car parked outside the window! Not what I would expect after paying £148 for bed and breakfast. We paid an extra £15 and moved into the new extension which was far better. Room of same standard but overlooking copse of trees which was much more pleasant. If you go ask for block C. Reception staff very helpful. We only had breakfast in the hotel but it was really very nice and well organised. Good choice of food and plenty of it. Would stay again although I would prefer the option of a more reasonable price with no goodies in the room.

From start to finish our experience of staying here was lovely. Upon entering the hotel the carpet is thick and plushy which is always a good start. We stayed in the new block of the hotel with a room that overlooked a small wooded area, blissfully quiet and woke up watching squirrels jump around in the trees.

The room was large with big flat screen TV wall mounted at the end of the bed. Lots of little extras which made the stay very special - truffles & wine in the room upon arrival, little teddy to take home free of charge (our daulghter is very impressed). The room also had fresh made buscuits with yorkshire tea bags or proper coffee!

Bathroom was huge large deep bath with shower, little touches such as toilet lids that dont bang. Plus more little gifts in the bathroom to take home make sure this is one stay you wont forget easliy with little reminders around the home.

We stayed in a Delux room which was brillant value for money. We got much more than we expected.

Well worth a visit Local Theatre didnt cost much with most shows costing between £10 - £15 and its still old style inside. The Bistro Bar & Restaurant within the hotel were also very friendly.

All in all in your thinking of staying in harrogate The Kimberley would make your stay special.

Limited parking we arrived just before lunch and easily parked, if your looking to treat yourself by staying here we would suggest you try to arrive early to save having to use alternative parking arrangements.

We booked into a deluxe room for one night only (169.00). The room did not disappoint! It was a good size, very clean and well equipped. There were robes, mules, chocolates, wine, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits provided in the room and even a complimentary teddy bear, who was very soft and snuggly!!

The service in the bistro was excellent once we had been acknowledged. The food was delicious and plenty of it.

Room service was quick and we found all the staff very polite and eager to help.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will book again when we are in need of pampering!!
