“50 years on when afar and asunder....”
Reviewed 2 July 2012

Our wedding lunch took place at this hotel 50 years ago, and therefore with our 4 offspring and their spice, and the ten further little dividends we went back there for a two night break.
The hotel has been through various ownership in recent years,Dawney Day as Paramount Hotels, Barco, and now Puma. We had been back fro a short visit when under Paramount, and the Puma ownership is quite recent, but they have wrought miracles.

Firstly a very understanding, helpful and negotiable booking office, The smiliest welcome I have experienced for a long time, and far above everything a reception staff who had understood and put into effect all our convoluted bedding arrangements ( I refer to the doubles, twins, trebles to accomodate the various sub divisions of our families.

The rooms were spacious, bright, with gleaming bathrooms, and the most modern of TV sets.
Beds to encourage sleep, and a perfectly adequate, freshly served breakfast buffet in a sparklingy clean ( by this I mean table crockery cleared immediatly after use) dining room by really good staff. The kids let off steam in a pleasant wimming pool. .

The Hotel is wihin a short walk of all the joys of Harrogate, in an elevated and bright position.

The prices are very attractive, and this is an Hotel which has made an outstanding effort to rejuvenate it's earlier reputation.

Room Tip: If you dont want to b awakened by an early bright sun, then chose a room facing west !

Stayed for 1 night, this was once a grand hotel however it now needs some serious investment. Had stayed before however our room this time (229)had a shabby bathroom. The leisure club changing facilities are very poor and need an update.car parking charge very cheeky!

Great location ,friendly staff, superb choice at breakfast, could have been greater choice for the evening meal but it was well presented.

Room Tip: Pay extra, and request a room with aircon.

We had a lovely two night break at the Majestic in Harrogate, chosen because it is a sister hotel to a former Barcelo, now Puma hotel in Stratford which we syayed in and loved last year. This hotel is like a mini village as it has everything in it. It's huge and doesnt have the cosy atmosphere of smaller hotels but it is great quality and very comfortable. The Leisure centre is spot on and the food especially the Breakfast Buffet is delicious esp for the wide variety which would appeal to vegetarians and meat eaters alike. If you want a great place to stay in in the heart of a historic town and an equally historic area- then Puma majestic is ideal for a short or longer stay.

Room Tip: Rooms to the front are probably quieter. Ours was at the side over a noisy boiler room or something...

I have stayed at this hotel several times and never been disappointed. Service was excellent, staff were attentive without being over-zealous. Room was large and and clean. Breakfasts were superb with a huge choice of well-cooked food; personally I prefer being able to select what I want as opposed to having a plate brought out to me. The evening meals were well cooked and plentiful although there wasn't such a large choice as in previous stays.

We stayed at the regal hotel for 3 most enjoyable days. We were greeted by a lovely cheerful receptionist who was so helpful and very knowledgable of how to get about. The room was very nice plenty of room, large bathroom, with nice towels. A very good hospitality tray that was replenished every day. The room was cleaned very well. The breakfast in the morning was Buffett style and all that we tried was cooked beautifully and very hot, plenty of tea and coffee, toast, fruit. All in all we had a very pleasurable 3 days. If there was one thing I could find fault with is the fact that the bed was rock hard, and we like a firm bed, but this was a bit to firm. Parking was very easy plenty of space. So we feel that we could recommend this hotel very highly. Plus it is so central to the town.

Room Tip: Ask for a room over looking the terrace, it should be quieter.
