Grand old hotel in a great location. Huge family room with proper beds (1double and 2 singles) and seating area. We were warm and comfortable and it was very clean. Efficient and friendly staff, great breakfast too.

Lovely stay at the Majestic for myself and 7 friends on Saturday 19 October.

We stayed on a spa package the treatments were lovely many thanks to the two girls in the Orchids that Saturday they were lovely chatty and we all felt lovely and relaxed.

The hotel location is fabulous! Right in the centre of Harrogate so we went out for cocktails and drinks in the evening :-) :-) what a lovely place! Reception staff kindly phoned and requested a booth for us in the Viper Rooms which really made the weekend. We also visited Betty's tea rooms on the Sunday which was lovely!

Staff in the gym and spa area were friendly and professional.

The food and dining room slightly let the hotel down. Our evening meals were ok (ish) but chips veg etc very undercooked which was a shame. The steak was nice but sauce watery and the starters and desserts were ok but edible not enjoyable. The dining room was very big and lacked a good atmosphere felt a little like a canteen. Breakfast however was lovely. Its unfortunate as everything else was superb.

Rooms were nice and clean and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We will return for sure xxx

What a great hotel in a great location, don't be fooled by Yorks 'Expensive, poor Minister' go to the Spa town of Harrogate. The hotel is minutes away from the Town, is spotlessly clean and the staff and facilities are excellent. The restaurant has a different menu each night but is also only minutes away from top eateries. I would suggest this as a good location for a York visit (£12 return for 2 on the train). Or visit the lovely Brimham Rocks and other attractions.

This hotel is a little dated, but must have been splendid in its era - the turn of the last century. Very spacious - large bedrooms and public areas etc. However, it does need a major refurb. Having said that, you simply can not beat the location - a very short walk to Harrogate centre - and it did look as if the owners are taking improvements seriously. Work seemed to be going on, the toiletries were nice etc. The restaurant looked lovely - was very large and elegant and was fully booked so we couldn't get a table! Service was a little slow, but well-meaning. Staff could perhaps do with a little more training - but they were all pleasant. For the price we could not complain overall.

Room Tip: There seemed to be some work going on - so some rooms may be more modern - might be worth asking whe...

My wife and I stayed for a single night without the children. Overall we had a nice stay. The hotel has a great location and is a grand old building. The staff are friendly and there is plenty of space (rooms, bars, dining room etc). We only ate breakfast in the hotel and that was nice (good quality and lots of choice). On the downside, the hotel is looking a bit tatty both on the outside and once inside too. The furniture all looks a bit worn out, the bar and restaurant areas are a bit old fashioned, the room we stayed in was outdated (although large and clean and with everything you need), the pool, gym and sauna area is a bit shabby too. Although none of this stopped us having a nice stay, for such a grand hotel in the centre of town you would expect it to be better appointed than it is. I can't comment on value for money as the stay was a freebie using airmiles.

Having returned from a one night stay on 26th October all I can say is my stay was not 4 star. The first room we were allocated was like a dingy bedsit, the roman blind on the window was hanging by threads as were the rather grubby looking curtains, The bathroom was old and worn out. The second room was marginally better but there was a very strange aroma in the room. The third room was slightly better, although the curtains were still threadbare. No hairdryer in the room so had to request one from housekeeping.

The Dining Room is a splendid room, the evening meal was ok but nothing special, breakfast was excellent. There was no lovely sitting room with comfy sofas with a view to the gardens and Harrogate. The staff were very helpful, the location fantastic and in its hayday would certainly have been Majestic.

Room Tip: Ask for a reburbished room
