My wife and I stayed here recently for two nights. Check in was very efficient and friendly.
Our room 259 was a good size with lovely furniture in keeping with the hotels character, the shower was extremely powerful which was great. The only few negatives had were the socket near the windows by the standard lamp not working, some mould round the ceiling of the bath area, and most concerning no curtain or blind covering the bathroom windows which was overlooked from the other side of hotel, i know it's frosted glass, but so are most bathrooms, a blind is a must. My wife therefore had to shower with the light off! Not very safe.
That's the negatives out of the way. They hardly detract from what was a wonderful stay, all the staff we encountered were extremely courteous and friendly, the breakfast was excellent, in such a fabulous relaxing room, probably the most relaxing hotel dining room we have been in.
The main bar area also we found a great place to chill out on our return later in the evening.
You can't help but ponder and imagine what it must have been like in the early years with the grand events etc that were staged there.
We hope to visit harrogate again in the future, and without doubt will stay at the majestic. Give me character anyway, than some modern sterile hotels

Dear redrobbie059,

Thank you for your review of the Majestic Hotel. It was a pleasure to read and we will address the couple of minor faults.

Like you, I love the history and ambience and being able to just relax tucked away in a comfy chair and watch the world go by.

Hoping to welcome you back soon.

Kind regards, Vince

We booked The Majestic online for a 4 day anniversary trip. Arrived at the hotel and had a somewhat disappointing check-in. The champagne we had ordered was not "on the system" even though we had a copy of it on our booking. The lady who checked us in wasn't really bothered and tried to send us to the bar to order it ourselves. Luckily another receptionist stepped in and helped us out. After a dodgy start, the rest of the weekend was lovely. The room was very spacious and we liked having a semi-private balcony. Shower was a bit dribbly, but overall it was fine. Dinner in the restaurant was very nice and served quickly. Breakfast was really good with a great choice of hot and cold items. Bar area was relaxing too. On check out there were £55.00 worth of items on the bill that weren't ours and the receptionist took them off straight away without questioning them. Really enjoyed our stay and the hotel is well placed for a short walk into town for the many bars and restaurants Harrogate has to offer... we just felt that the check in and out at reception let the hotel down.

Room Tip: Worth paying the extra for a superior rooms.

Dear GordonandMichael,

Thank you for posting your review and I'm very happy that it proved to be enjoyable.

We do have some new Receptionists on the front desk and there is a lot for them to learn so your patience was appreciated and their knowledge, skills and speed will definately improve.

Kind regards, Vince

Visited the hotel on a SPA day visit, on arrival hotel looked a bit tired and old and the swimming pool area seemed in need of some TLC. We were given towels and made our lunch selection (lots of choice).

Changing facilities were dated and the pool was full of splashing and screaming kids with all the sun loungers reserved by their parents! Not the relaxing SPA day we had in mind! The treatment was good but shorter than the advertised 30 minutes as the therapist cut short both mine and my partners treatments. The pre selected lunch was very tasty.

The hotel is in a lovely position for a wander into town and the friendly gym attendant let us leave our car in the car park for as long as we wished with a paid car park ticket.

I am not a complaining person, this is a genuine honest summary - I left slightly disappointed and wouldn't return for a SPA or gym visit again. I can't comment on the rooms but the hotel seemed in need of some TLC.

Deat tom13mck,

Thank you for posting your review of your spa day. I'm sorry that you ended up feeling slightly disappointed although receiveing good service and an enjoyable lunch.

We do try to make clear that we have a health club which is available to local members as well as hotel residents and with it being half terms we do see more children in the club.

Outside of the school holidays the club is quieter.

Your feedback is appreciated and helpful to us.

Many thanks, Vince

Enjoyable stay at this hotel - don't believe all the reviews listed - the only fault we had was with check in which was delayed nearly one hour - but were offered complimentary tea and coffee. Good value for money

This is a 115 year old building with many memories, there is still a lot of the building that has many futures still there . A lot of people will say OMG its dated but it's still a grand old building you can sill have the image of the ladies & gents in the ballroom ect . They have a well balance of new and old , with the bedrooms being brought up to the modern era .
The meals were fine , dinner was nothing special , the service was excellent but the food was a 6 out of 10 . Breakfasts are better they are a buffet style then you can see what you want and don't require. The afternoon tea is served by the bar-person we had to ask a few people to find a location to get this service, this was nice but very few people took this option in the afternoon, but its well worth 30 mins to try this.
The staff that were around for our visit were very friendly , answered any questions that were asked. The rooms were cleaned daily, I would stay here again but would miss dinner and eat out for that option .
