Spend some time here during and gift fair and the hotel is really looking tired. Coffee in the bar in a take away cup was £3.50 and moth worth it. Would have been a good hotel in the past but when you see a new Premier Inn being built in the front garden it sort of tells the tale.

Dear Leg016,

Thank you for posting your review during your recent visit to attend the Gift Fair. This long running and popular event does create huge demand and this does mean that prices increase.

In the lounge we were serving filter coffee for under £2 a cup. Latte and cappuccino are more for the bean to cup and the takeaway cups were purely to allow ease of movement around the external marquees.

The new hotel does look nice and very modern though it depends what you are looking for. The Majestic has never been the cheapest place to sleep in Harrogate though it has the greatest heritage and I suppose it depends if that is of value to your visit.

The Gift Fair has been in Harrogate each July for over 50 years which itself says something for itself.

Hope to see you back next year.

Kind regards, Vince

Where do you start? When we arrived there was no parking available - half the car park taken over by exhibition stands and contactors vehicles. Staff outside dismissive and unhelpful. Room in desperate need of refurbishment and air conditioning. Mould around bath. Queues at breakfast despite empty tables due to lack of organisation. Used crockery and other detritus on landings by lift not removed for hours/days. Clearly a lack of management control throughout the hotel. Poor value for money. All this and noisy building work starting at 7 am!

Room Tip: Avoid rooms facing the building site - ask for this and a refurbished room

Dear David H,

Thank you for your review and I'm sorry that your visit co-incided with our major external event.

Traffic management staff are provided to try and assist with the process though I do appreciate it is not ideal and the Saturday night was extrmely busy with lots happening.

We've never had nor advertised air conditioning and we can provide a supplementary fan if needed.

For breakfast we served over 350 guests and I am sorry that you did not receive our best attention. We are in the process of making changes to this meal time as feedback indicates a review is needed.

I do appreciate your feedback.

Kind regards, Vince

When we checked in we were greeted by Norman and what a great chap. He then referred us to Helene at the front desk who was fantastic and sorted us out a lovely room. She was really busy (it was show time and they were fully booked), but made time to help us. David on the front team was very helpful, and very considerate. Lovely atmosphere, great location and we will stay again. Thank you to all the team we met.

Room Tip: Some rooms are fully refurbished, at least request one of them. It's a busy place, so higher flo...

The hotel itself has the potential for being fabulous with its size and location however it lacks a lot in the house keeping department. There's a lot of small stuff that adds up to a less than satisfactory experience. Mould round the bath and accessories in the bathroom and mouldy window frames. Dirty nets hanging in the windows and flaky painted radiator. We also found a hotel white slipper under the bed - god knows how long it had been there!! It definitely needs better house keeping as its not 4* by any means. We were also asked to pay an extra £5 per day for parking on the car park.

Room Tip: Don't think there are any good rooms unless you pay a lot more when booking.

Dear Jane B,

Thank you for posting your review and my apologies that your room was not up to an acceptable standard. Our housekeeping team numbers 23 people and they usually do a very good job in a busy environment.

Our overall guest feedback satisfaction ratings are usually above 90% and many of the team have worked for us for some years. This does appear to be isolated and I'm sure your next experience would de improved.

Stayed for two nights as we were going to The Yorkshire Show and we were both very pleased as the room was a lovely size, although it only overlooked the car park. The beds were comfy and the room had free wi-fi. Staff were welcoming and helpful. The first night we had dinner here which was a reasonable £18.50 for two courses but I didn't like the ambience in the restaurant so we had a bar snack the night after. The bar lounge is huge with an outside seating area. The only downside was that the hotel grounds were full of workmen erecting temporary buildings in the grounds for a fayre of some sort and we weren't allowed to use the hotel gardens which would have been nice as it was very warm , but other than this I would highly recommend this hotel

Having read lots of good reviews, I had high expectations for this hotel. On arrival, we found that the car park was full (and then some - people had been allowed to abandon cars all over the car park and turning circle making it very difficult to manoeuvre) so we had to pay to park in the nearby conference centre. I got up at 6.30 the following morning to move my car into the car park and managed just to get the last available space. The car park only got busier during the weekend and it seemed that many of the vehicles were visiting the nearby trade fair rather than staying in the hotel. The receptionist who checked us in was friendly and helpful and our room was lovely, if a little tired. The bathroom in particular had obviously seen better days and the wood around the bath was beginning to peel. Breakfast was lovely with good service. Check out was chaotic, although it was obviously a busy weekend. On balance, I would probably not recommend this place, mainly because of the parking situation. I understand that all Harrogate hotels have limited parking but we had chosen this one because of its carpark.

Dear minicuttingblade,

Thank you for posting your review of the Majestic Hotel.

I am sorry that you encountered difficulties in parking due to the preparations for the Gift Fair. This takes place annually and uses some of our parking between mid June and the end of July. Outside of this we have over 200 spaces.

I am glad that your stay itself was good and over the weekend in question many of those staying were connected to the show itself.

Kind regards, Vince

I totally agree with barbara4822's review of this, not very, majestic hotel. When me and barbara and family first stayed at the hotel, it was great, but the standards since our two other previous stays has declined. At the time, instead of puma hotels directing complaints back to the hotel, they should have taken these up themselves, as the complaints are about one of there hotels. Lets hope the hotel collection, the new owners can do better. The review that barbara4822 gave, is word for word correct. Get your act together majestic, you have last some regular customers here.

Dear froders,

Thank you for your review and be certain that we always seek to offer a good service. I've been running the hotel for the last decade including your families good stays and the not so good.

Any customer issue is always passed to the General Manager of the hotel as they are best placed to respond specifically to the concerns raised and also to make amends where necessary.

Our business is all about people notably customers and staff, and sometimes plans don't work and problems occur. As a GM I think that with over 30 years experience in hotels that I am able to resolve most situation reasonably.

Thank you for your feedback.

Kind regards, Vince
