“The majestic, really is majestic”
Reviewed 2 August 2014

I booked several rooms at this hotel to celebrate a friends imminent wedding and the facilities, service, rooms and food were fantastic from the minute that we arrived until we left. On arrival I was helped into the hotel with my bags, allowed to store them and acess them until check-in and given lots of help and advice on my visit to Harrogate. We needed to cancel a room due to a last minute drop out, and this was done without problem, we even got upgraded and help to book vip passes with a local club for our night out. The hotel was only 5 mins or so from town too andceasy to find with sat nav. Breakfast was amazing, fantastic choice of patisserie, cooked breakfast, fruit and cereal, and the pool was perfect, clean quiet and plenty of facilities. The Staff were all friendly, kind and incredibly helpfull, well done Majestic team, I will be coming back soon! Fantastic value for money, great experience, a real getaway that left me refreshed, relaxed and invigorated by my trip to Harrogate.

First arrival, looks very impressive. A little dated in areas. Friendly team and delicious food. Good choice on the menu. Spa treatments available and affordable for those rainy days.
Room very clean but could of done with a touch up here and there. The bed was very comfortable. Drinks in the bar are on the expensive side. When we arrived it was under some refurbishment would love to go back and see once completed.

Room Tip: luxury front facing

Last minute package for one night including 3 course dinner and wine
Imposing building and certainly in need of some TLC. Main reception areas grand and imposing.
Staff in dining room first class, attentive and professional. Food really tasty with plenty on offer from the fixed menu.
Room Ok. Large with a "Juliet Balcony". Tired looking though not quite an internet picture
All in all an good stay for the money we payed. It has soul

We stayed in a Premium room. Luxurious surroundings with friendly and helpful staff. Within walking distance of amenities. Only letdown was nothing showing at the theatre in Harrogate at the time of our visit..

Dear Ian S,

Thank you for posting your 5 star review of the Majestic Hotel Harrogate and very pleased to see you enjoyed yourselves.

July sees the Harrogate International Festival annually and August the Gilbert and Sullivan Festival so you were simply unfortunate in the timing of your break.

Hopefully next time you'll get the chance to experience Harrogate Theatre of the Royal Hall as both are wonderful buildings.

Kind regards, Vince

We'd booked a night away in a Deluxe room with dinner and breakfast included as a single night getaway on the recommendation of family members.

Upon arrival it's clear that the hotel is steeped in early 20th century elegance. Check-in was fast and efficient but we were informed that there is a parking charge of £5 per 24 hour period. Now, it isn't going to break the bank, but when you're spending north of £200 per night, to charge more to park a car is really not on. This isn't the heart of London! In any case, parking was somewhat of a struggle due to construction work - which had also disappointingly closed the gardens, which we'd been advised was a highlight - and 2 buses parked in what little space was left.

Our room, though, was fantastic and very clean. It was a huge room with a Super King sized bed. Bottled water and tea and coffee making facilities are provided as are nice bathrobes and slippers. The bathroom had obviously been recently refurbished and was large and well appointed - though some previous guests had obviously been a bit rough with some of the fittings as the top of the vanity unit had been pulled down on one end (had someone sat on it, maybe?) and a few seals were missing here and there. Cleanliness was second to none, though.

The only slight disappointment was the dinner menu which felt a bit old-fashioned. The dining room is nice enough but the food selection is pedestrian. What we did have was well prepared (chicken liver parfait, melon and exotic fruits; steak in peppercorn sauce, sweet n sour chicken and rice; lemon and lime cheesecake) and although we were happy other guests were not - we witnessed two tables complain about the steak, one ask for a dirty tablecloth to be changed and one couple walk out because they could not be served with a chilled bottle of white wine. Maybe the staff were struggling to cope with the two coachloads of people plus the other guests?

We both got a very good night's sleep and then it was time for a breakfast. It was laid out buffet style and was a good selection of good quality. No complaints - very good. My wife would have liked to use the spa but could not get an appointment as we'd arrived too late the evening before. If you get the chance, though - it sounds weird - but have a look in the gents toilets down by the spa in the basement. My jaw dropped. It's like an enormous ballroom down there!

All told, clean, elegant, good breakfast, so-so dinner but the parking charge seems ridiculous for guests already paying quite a lot simply to be there.

Room Tip: Deluxe room 140, on the end of the building, is lovely!

Dear Daniel C,

Thank you very much for posting your review of the Majestic Hotel, Harrogate.

I did enjoy reading it and found it very interesting. We are in the midst of a transition within our restaurant offering and your feedback is helpful. We do have to try and satisfy a wide range of tastes and our offering has always been quite traditional a bit like our customers in the most part.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience and hoping you'll return again soon. The gardens are returned to normal use now, albeit it raining cats and dogs as I write this response !

Kind regards, Vince

We had a very enjoyable 2 Night Break in Harrogate at the Majestic, We were made most welcome by Klaudia on Reception, who was very friendly & efficient. Our Room was a Twin, nicely decorated with comfortable Beds & a lovely Bathroom. We thoroughly enjoyed the great choice for Breakfast, which the Staff continually replenished - they were all kept busy ! We chose to eat out on an Evening rather than in the Hotel, but we returned each night for a 'Night cap' & found the staff very friendly & helpful. We can also recommend the 'Homemade Shortbread' served with the Coffee in the Hotel Bar - Yummy ! We found the Hotel so handy to walk into the Centre for the Shops, Turkish Baths, Betty's & the Train Station (if you wish to venture further afield) to mention a few of Harrogate's many attractions ! We shall certainly return to the Majestic next year ! Thanks to everyone who looked after us !
