“Excellent stay”
Reviewed 1 July 2013 via mobile

We stayed for one night and we couldn't of picked a better hotel. We were able to park in the car park while we explored Harrogate earlier in the day and also after we had checked out the following day. It is only a short walk into the centre. Although as other reviews have said the decor is a bit tired, the hotel is far from shabby and is very clean everywhere and this is part of the charm. The foyer is lovely and I thought very grand. The room was large and very nice. We paid for a club room and I thought it was worth it. It made our stay that little bit extra special. We had Sunday lunch in the restaurant and had roast beef. This again was really nice and you were made to feel welcome. The beef was cooked to perfection. After an excellent nights sleep we had a huge breakfast. There are plenty of different cereals to choose from aswell fresh fruit, toast and rolls, then all followed by a full cooked English breakfast. We were stuffed. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who isn't lookin for rooms full of mdf, but full of character and original windows and features.

We returned to this hotel for another Sunday saver night. We came back in May this time minus the snow!! The food and service was equally as good as our first visit and will not be long until we return again. Great location fot town and going further afield. Great location for some retail therapy.

A very large hotel, but still very friendly, very helpful staff. Hotel trying its best to upgrade to a higher spec. as in our club room. Room 328 is a Large clean room, bathroom as been retiled, not very well. No need for a staff to serve us from hot plates, school dinner style, even old people can ask for help if needed. Wi Fi needs to be on every floor, not just the ground floor.

Room Tip: If you want a view say so, when you book.

We stayed here for one night and found it quite reasonable. It has a large car park and is not too far (10 minutes walk) from the station in Harrogate. There is a bus stop outside and there is Leeds to Ripon bus every 15 minutes, so it is good for visiting either of these. The service was friendly and efficient, however the public areas of the hotel were rather dowdy. The corridor to our room was really quite depressing, but the room turned out to be absolutely fine. The breakfast was rather limited with a rather poor selection of fruit, cereal and bread but was OK if you wanted a "full English". It was quite busy with coach parties, but this did not cause any service problems. It was OK for an overnight stop, but I wouldn't rush back.

Stayed at this hotel for a weekend. Our room was very large with a huge bay window on the front. it was lovely. It was clean and although a little tired it was good to see some care taken over some of the architectural features. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was very good with lots of choice.Despite being very full on the Saturday night we didn't hear any other guests on our corridor. There is parking at the hotel which is a short walk to town although uphill on the way back. A very enjoyable hotel which I would be happy to visit again.

Room Tip: Ask for the front of the hotel. The twin bedded room we were in was twice the size of the double bed...

Everything was made so easy from checking to checking out. Wonderful parking facilities on site and free. On checking in a delightfully helpful young man came and took our cases from the car and showed us to our room. The room was spotless, large and airy. The food was first rate and the choice was good too. Breakfast was really excellent. The staff were all extremely pleasant and helpful. Being a large hotel it did cater for coach parties, however they were all seated together in a separated area from the ordinary guests and were no problem at all, infact I think they added to the happy atmosphere. Coffee or tea was served in the bar after dinner and one could have as many cups as you wished. It was very pleasant sitting and enjoying it whilst listening to the entertainment. The situation was good too, handy for the beautiful Valley Gardens and the town centre. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again.
