As my last review was removed from this site i was asked to re-submit a new one. The Cairn is a lovely hotel, i have stayed many times in the past. Excellant staff, spacious rooms, good food, location and parking.
However if you are offended by groups of crossdressers i would advise you to check with the hotel before you book...

Sayed in the Cairn albeit for just one night. Very comfortable rooms with adequate facilities.
The website only shows the central portion of the hotel so it was a bit of a shock when we saw how big it actually was.
Didn't have a restaurant meal but the breakfast was good.
Only a few minutes from the centre which is great & only a few minutes drive from the Yorkshire Event Centre which was the purpose of our visit.

Booked in for one night. It was much grander than we expected with ample car parking and a welcoming entrance. Very polite check-in and no fuss at all. The room was large and well-prepared.
Breakfast was splendid and served in a huge dining room by very efficient staff.
My only grip was the muzak but I suppose that's a personal choice thing. I'd certainly return.

I traveled to this hotel for a short break with another three members of my family. We stayed in the hotel in two separate rooms from February 20 to February 23 on one of their special breaks with a carvery meal free. The cost is exceptional value for money. The rooms have lots of space and are spotless. The staff are very pleasant and nothing is too much trouble for them. The breakfast has lots of choices and so does the evening meals. The hotel has lots of car parking so you can leave your car and walk to other places. A short walk away you can go into Harrogate and spent some time around the shops. Plenty of shops to choose from to eat in or just get a cuppa.

Room Tip: we did not pay the extra money for an upgrade as the rooms are big and full value for money

Stayed there for 4 nights (19th-22nd Feb). Staff are very welcoming, and obliging. Hotel is clean and spacious. The location is fine, within 5 minutes walking distance from town center. Bus runs right past hotel too (36 to Leeds one way & Ripon the other). Rooms are bigger than average. The building is very old, paintwork around doors and windows in particular in need of renovation. Windows were not double glazed and a bit draughty. Breakfast is adequate, but most of hot food is overcooked (sausages virtually burnt everyday).
We had dinner twice at hotel, nice enough but slightly overpriced.
Free wifi but only available in lobby area.
Overall, not a bad place to stay, but management need to look at window replacement!

Attending a dinner nearby midweek, a night at the Cairn was the same as the taxi fare home, and included breakfast. Warm, clean with a comfortable mattress, and the night porter was quickly on hand to let me in and issue the room key.

Hotel has a stunning entrance and reception area, with a grand staircase to the upper levels. Our room was very big, clean and had everything we wanted. Worn carpets were being replaced when we were there, but this did not intrude. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Food was excellent value and plenty of choice from the helpful waiter. Fantastic location and great value for money. The huge car park is a bonus. Would thoroughly recommend this is a base to explore.
