“Tired but ok”

Stayed for one night for work. With a mix up at reception over whether dinner and/or breakfast was included the room was basic but big and its a good location on the stray.

came for a night away with best mate, booked a twin room for the saturday
pros -
room was very clean
beds were comfortable
adequate tea and coffee supplies
breakfast was quite varied and tasty
bar staff helpful and friendly

cons -
hen do group woke us in middle of the night for an hour - walls were very thin, could hear every word from them and the room on the other side when they switched the news on at 7am
receptionists not unpleasant but not friendly either, no welcome or did you enjoy your stay on departure
could not find towels - apparently you are supposed to know they are in a plastic bag on top of the wardrobe - good job i'm 6ft and could reach them
table wasn't wiped down before we sat for breakfast
we accessed the hotel by the back door which didn't seem very secure

overall i would stay here agin simply for the fact it only took just over 5 mins to walk to the train station and the start of town plus at £100 inc breakfast it was a good deal - little things could be changed quite quickly and this would make this a very good instead of an average

Room Tip: ask for one away from a group of hens!

A pity a hotel with so much potential should fall short on performance. Room was excellent - clean and comfortable with views over the Strays. Plenty of parking although the hotel was fully booked. Staff were friendly and very helpful. However on the first evening, although what we did order was excellent, the Brasserie could offer no beef choices from the menu. On the next evening a room service meal was lukewarm and unappetising. We would come again but would hope these problems were untypical.

I recently organised a birthday weekend for my dad at this hotel together with 35 friends/family. I would just like to mention that Carla Smith from the hotel was great and helped in all the organisation for the weekend which included a trip to the races and meal on the Saturday evening. I certainly could not have arranged this weekend without her help.

We arrived Friday and check-in was very quick. The bar area is large and there was plenty of room for us to relax on Friday evening.

The rooms are very spacious and even the couple of family rooms we booked had plenty of space (even with 4 beds in them).

Carla arranged a small reception with fizz and canapes on the Saturday afternoon before we went to the races and this was a great start to the day. We were in a separate room on the Saturday evening for the meal which was great as we could make as much noise as we wanted without feeling we were disturbing any other guests. We all thought the food was fantastic and this included the breakfasts each morning.

I would definitely recommend/stay here again. On behalf of my Mum and Dad and all our party I would like to thank Carla and all staff at the hotel for looking after us and making it a super weekend.

Excellent hotel. It is a very old coaching house from the 1600's but beautifully modernised. The food was exceptionally good and every one was very efficient, friendly and helpful. There was plenty of car parking at the front and rear of the building. The views from the front across the Strays were impressive. Harrogate is a lovely town and the Flower shows (2 each year) are amongst the best in the country.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a front room overlooking The Strays

Booked this hotel last minute (enroute in the car). Got a great deal. Hotel is lovely, staff very friendly and helpful. Only 5 mins walk from town centre. I dont think pics do the hotel justice.

Stayed 5 nights last week and can't fault the hotel in any way. Staff were excellent and very friendly service. Food was superb was from the first class choice at breakfast through to the fantastic quality of the evening meals in the Brasserie restaurant. The hotel has loads of free car parking which having been to Harrogate before I know that not all the hotels offer this. It also has a beautiful outlook over the 200 acre Stray which Harrogate is famous for. The frontage to the hotel is really impressive as a Grade II listed building and the gardens, whilst small are very well looked after and manicured making for an overall very impressive stay. We'll definitely be back and would have no hesitation in recommending to anyone else.
