“Great service but in need of an upgrade”
Reviewed 29 May 2012

Just back from a business trip at the cedar court. It looks very grand from the outside and seems to be similar to a lot of hotels in Harrogate, however once inside the hotel looks very tired and dated. The rooms were spotless but again the furniture was very old. The service however was very good . All the staff were pleasant and went out of their way to help you. The breakfast was buffet style with the usual cereals, toast croissants and all your cooked breakfast items. The restaurant however was like a sauna. It was 23 degrees outside and I am sure the restaurant was the same . Not sure if there was air conditioning in the restaurant but it certainly wasn't on . .overall was an ok experience.bur was quite surprised it had a 4 star rating . I've stayed in lots of 3 star hotels that are miles better

We stayed here last year for our 1st wedding anniversary and we loved it! Bethany on reception was lovely and so was the restaurant manager. The food in the restaurant was one of the best meals we'd eaten out. The service in the restaurant was first class too. The room and bathroom were spotless and the bed was very comfy. Overall probably the best corporate hotel we've stayed in.

Outstanding customer service from Jane, Bethany &Tina at reception in Best Western, Cedar Court Hotel, Harrogate. On behalf of my Aunt & Uncle, Mr & Mrs Cordier. I would like to thank you for helping them with ferry bookings, international flights, telephone calls and faxes. My Uncle was taken ill when on a trip from France. They said " They did a better job of assisting us than did our internationally reputed assistance company, what Jane, Bethany and Tina said they would do, they did. Our well-being was their first priority"

We do not normally stay in "corporate" hotels. preferring 4-5 star boutique venues but an emergency forced us to stay in this location.

Firstly – very friendly, caring and helpful staff. Car parking was tight at the front, but I think there is further parking at the rear.

Although a non-smoking hotel, the first room we were given stank of cigarettes and were swiftly moved to a fresh room. I would advise you smell the room before unpacking!

Room service was good value and hearty but the restaurant a la carte was pricey for what it was – bland. Breakfast was ample but in a rather dingy large room – room service breakfast was much better.

So good to very good overall for a small corporate-type hotel.

Room Tip: Smell it first

Stayed here on the bank holiday to visit York and have a night out in Leeds. By far was the cheapest deal around although did not include breakfast. States its a four star hotel but I'd say the rooms
We're definetly a three. Decor was dated no hair dryer bits of paper blue tacked to the bathroom wall with energy saving tips on them? Very random! Bed was super comfy! Tea and coffee in the rooms and room service available. Ideal if you want a no frills cheap getaway for the weekend.

Stayed for one night for work. With a mix up at reception over whether dinner and/or breakfast was included the room was basic but big and its a good location on the stray.

came for a night away with best mate, booked a twin room for the saturday
pros -
room was very clean
beds were comfortable
adequate tea and coffee supplies
breakfast was quite varied and tasty
bar staff helpful and friendly

cons -
hen do group woke us in middle of the night for an hour - walls were very thin, could hear every word from them and the room on the other side when they switched the news on at 7am
receptionists not unpleasant but not friendly either, no welcome or did you enjoy your stay on departure
could not find towels - apparently you are supposed to know they are in a plastic bag on top of the wardrobe - good job i'm 6ft and could reach them
table wasn't wiped down before we sat for breakfast
we accessed the hotel by the back door which didn't seem very secure

overall i would stay here agin simply for the fact it only took just over 5 mins to walk to the train station and the start of town plus at £100 inc breakfast it was a good deal - little things could be changed quite quickly and this would make this a very good instead of an average

Room Tip: ask for one away from a group of hens!
