Had an excellent stay at the St George Hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel very clean. Was a nice surprise having the use of the pool and gym we were unable to use this as we were out taking in what Harrogate had to offer. Would have liked to have upgraded to a room with a view but otherwise room was okay. Restuarant food was excellent very good choice on both menus. Am looking forward to making a return visit hopefully very soon.

Room Tip: The room that we stayed in was noisy as it had the fans from kitchen below window. However when wind...

Had a great weekend in Harrogate! Beautiful May weather too. The St George is not too bad really and a great central location.. The building has bags of character, but is looking a little tired and tatty in parts, which is a shame. It's clear that this is being addressed and I'm sure it's a long job to renovate a place and stay open.

Breakfast was plentiful (even if the toasters drive you mad!!) and the room was pleasant enough for the price. Bed comfortable and a good nights sleep was had by all. I would stay again.

Room Tip: All rooms would appear quiet because of location. If you want a view, the single rooms that we had l...

Thank you Ashley for your lovely review.
We are in an ideal location in the centre of Harrogate with all Harrogate has to offer not too far away. This is an old building with plenty of character and we do have an ongoing refurbishment programme in place. I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed your breakfast consisting of our hot and cold buffet.
We look forward to welcoming you back to Harrogate and the St George in the future.
Kind Regards

Stayed here for a 2 night Shearings break and for the price I paid, I didn't expect much. I was pleasently surprised! Yes some areas need refurbishment but most areas have been done to a very high standard. I have been to many of Shearings hotels but the food, staff (especially reception) and location of this hotel is a cut above the rest! I will return and reccomend to friends. Please pass on my thanks to your staff, especially Rosie and Agnes.

Superbly located, very reasonable prices too. Room was great (Single) bed was comfortable, OK the shower could have been stronger. Staff were all very pleasant, the bar staff polite yet humorous also. Breaksfast, buffet style, was ok too. Was quite warm though..All in all, one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in for a while.

Not nice at all, the room just felt and looked really dirty. The hotel is in need of a complete renovation, bathroom depressing and fabric shower curtains are really unhygienic and not acceptable in 2014. I didn't sample the breakfast I just wanted to get away as soon as possible in the morning.

At the St George Hotel we maintain good value, clean accommodation, I'm saddened that you didn't give me the opportunity to discuss your thoughts whilst staying with us.
Many hotels continue to use shower curtains and I can assure you that ours are replaced on a regular basis, we all take hygiene extremely seriously and would not compromise this in any way.

Stayed over Easter weekend with my wife daughter and two granddaughters. The staff could not have been friendlier or helpful. Enjoyed all the excellent facilities. Although the hotel was very busy the staff were very helpful and calm. A nice touch on Easter Sunday morning was to find a Cadburys Crème egg in each cup. The children really appreciated this. Thanks to all the staff for an enjoyable weekend.

Room Tip: Rooms on front are excellent

Stayed for one night with friends. The hotel itself is very nice and central and the rooms are very spacious. The leisure facilities are very good and on this occasion we had the pool to ourselves which was lovely. The only downside to this hotel are the attitude of the staff. On arrival we were told there was no car park spaces allocated to us even though I had previously booked two direct with the hotel. I found the receptionist very rude and abrupt. The other staff were also very moody, not a smile on their faces and could do with some customer service training.

I'm sorry to read that your stay had been let down by my staff. After receiving so many positive and kind comments about them - this is disappointing to read.
As a company we take staff training very seriously and have a rolling plan of refresher training, customer care will be re-addressed.
