We found this haven of traditional pub cuisine after straying off the beaten track looking for another pub from the good pub guide. After driving about 5 miles further than our intended destination we found ourselves driving along Brame Lane (a lovely country lane) where the Sun Inn appeared to our right. The welcome was warm and inviting.
On entering through the main door, the roaring log fires provide a warm homely setting and the low wooden beams the oldy worldy feel. The bar staff are young and friendly serving a range of beers including Speckled Hen and Theakstons and a number of lagers.
The food is fantastic.....traditional meals such as Lasagne, Chilli con carne, burger and chips but we have the Steak Pie and it is to die for. A real slab of crumbly pastry filled with the largest steak pieces you can imagine and so tender. Smothered in glorious gravy and two vegetables with either chips, mash or jacket......drool.
The view out of the windows looks out over the yorkshire countryside where you can see for miles. Couple that with your resident peacock and peahen that pay a visit and you have an idyllic place for a perfect lunch or early evening meal. Try it. You won't be disappointed.

The Sun Inn have always served delicious home made food (steak pie being my favourite!). Now every Thursday they offer a steak dinner and bottle of wine...two people £22. So we gave it a try and we certainly were not disappointed. Our locally sourced rump steaks were cooked to perfection and came with all the trimmings...home made onion rings were particularly good. Great value for money and with the open fires and friendly atmosphere this makes for a fab evening out

No matter what walk of life you come from this pub is excellent for food, drink and a friendly family atmosphere. We visit as bikers or in the car with the dog. Neal and Fiona couldn't do enough for you and the Sunday carvery is mega!
They have just started doing a steak night on Thursday so check this out...sampled 2 rump steaks with all the trimmings and a bottle of wine for £22.00 this Thursday just gone - cracking!

I've been visiting the Sun Inn for the past couple of years and I've never left feeling disappointed by the standard of the place. Always high standards throughout the pub. Great bar service always with a smile! The landlords Neil and Fiona are both very welcoming and make you feel at home. There are 2 open fires which are a blessing for bikers and walkers on these cold winters days. Food is of high quality at a fair price. They offer traditional bar meals throughout the week and on Sundays a fantastic carvery is served. Carvery costs around £7 and you are welcome to re-visit the counter for extra helpings of meat an veg. Through the summer it's always relaxing to to sit in the beer garden and admire the fantastic views throughout the Washburn Valley.

The food was good and hot and much appreciated after climbing up from Swinsty reservoir. I liked the choice at the carvery and my daughter enjoyed your vegetarian option. Her partner and my husband liked the fish dish. However the cold plates didn't keep the food hot for very long which spoilt my meal. The vanilla cheesecake we found to be rather solid, though the raspberry coulis was tasty. My daughter liked the sticky toffee pudding.
