We found this haven of traditional pub cuisine after straying off the beaten track looking for another pub from the good pub guide. After driving about 5 miles further than our intended destination we found ourselves driving along Brame Lane (a lovely country lane) where the Sun Inn appeared to our right. The welcome was warm and inviting.
On entering through the main door, the roaring log fires provide a warm homely setting and the low wooden beams the oldy worldy feel. The bar staff are young and friendly serving a range of beers including Speckled Hen and Theakstons and a number of lagers.
The food is fantastic.....traditional meals such as Lasagne, Chilli con carne, burger and chips but we have the Steak Pie and it is to die for. A real slab of crumbly pastry filled with the largest steak pieces you can imagine and so tender. Smothered in glorious gravy and two vegetables with either chips, mash or jacket......drool.
The view out of the windows looks out over the yorkshire countryside where you can see for miles. Couple that with your resident peacock and peahen that pay a visit and you have an idyllic place for a perfect lunch or early evening meal. Try it. You won't be disappointed.
