From being welcomed by Paul on the driveway as we arrived at Hazel Manor to being waved off as we left two days later our experience was faultless.
The wife and I took my Mum and Dad to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary and wanted their experience to be special and Hazel Manor lived up to its 5 star reputation.
Nothing was too much trouble for Paul and Janet, we were treated to fantastic hospitality and great food.
Home made pastries, delicious smoothies, and to top it all a choice of 3 bacon options at breakfast.... Yummy is all you can say.
Spotless accommodation and first class luxury.
Definite recommendation to anyone looking for a real treat.

Paul and Mary

Room Tip: Only two rooms, both to a great standard

This is our third year visiting Hazel Manor but it won't be our last as we love it so much. (See our previous 2 reviews). This time we stayed in room 2 which is the smaller room but still beautifully appointed with garden views and equipped with everything you could wish for, including the excellent lemon shortbread biscuits! The setting is superb, the house beautiful and Janet and Paul's hospitality second to none, even after 3 years they are not resting on their laurels and continue to add new touches. We thoroughly recommend a visit.

Janet and Paul are very attentive and thoughtful hosts, they seemed to just about think of everything.
They house has been beautifully restored and the rooms are decorated and furnished with very good taste.
Really nice and well presented breakfast.
Good place for a quiet, relaxing break

Once you stay at Hazel Manor if you don't find that it meets all of your expectations I'd be surprised!
Having read the trusted TA reviews we expected something special & we got it, a wonderful 2 night stay from start to finish.
Janet & Paul were very caring & attentive hosts who are clearly passionate about what they do & also about their wonderful home which they are happy to share with you.
The location is perfect, whilst only a stones throw off the A61 the gardens are so quiet & tranquil.
5 minutes into Harrogate by car or the 36 bus every 15 minutes makes it a great 'out of town' spot to enjoy the local area from.
The breakfast, as already acknowledged by so many, is the perfect start to the day with quality products cooked to perfection, even for a big 'un like myself it kept us going until evening dinner.
We visited Harlow Carr & Fountains Abbey during our stay with our final day spent in Harrogate, we can definitely recommend both of those places for a good day out.
If you'd like to know more about the area simply ask Paul, he'll be more than happy to help you.
Well, just talk to him anyway, he's a very interesting chap to listen to & has an extremely broad subject matter to converse about & all done with an impressive amount of passion.
Look for the 'emergency spares' basket in your room it'll highlight all you need to know about the amount of thought that your hosts put into making your stay as good as it could possibly be!
Thanks again Janet & Paul for giving us a wonderful time in your home!

Room Tip: Keep your eyes peeled it's not the easiest of entrances to spot when driving. Both rooms are ex...

I'll start by saying Hazel Manor didn't meet my expectations.
It surpassed them easily...like a Tour de France bicyclister whooshing past at 40mph while I'm still tying my shoelaces!
It's down a narrow curving private lane, which, if you can find it, is your gateway to indulgence!
When we pulled up near the large greenhouse/orangery?...we thought we'd got the wrong place, even though it looked just like the photos.

I half expected a moustachioed colonel in tweeds to storm out, blunderbuss in hand, screaming "get off my land!"
Instead, the pretty, smiling, utterly charming Janet came out to meet us.
Instantly friendly, we were at our ease in moments. She led us inside, and.....well, you just go "wow".
The place is just oozing style and taste, in a warm "you're eminently welcome" way. The warmth and ease we felt from both Janet and Paul has obviously seeped deep into the wallpaper, the furnishings, and the cooking!

The attention to detail was amazing, but not to the point of being in any way intrusive.
And I'll say this right now, Janet is, in my book, a mistress of all trades, and master of many! Skills ranging from sculpture, biscuit making, and superb breakfasts! Quite simply, I'd pay the rate for the room itself happily, and if they charged £15 extra on top for breakfast, I'd feel the whole thing was still a bargain! Oh, and her Hollandaise Sauce knocked The Box Tree's into a cocked hat! (Or a bent ladle, if you'll excuse my muddled metaphors).

I'll tell you something else too, if it wasn't for the fact that when we were leaving I stupidly blurted out that I'd offer up a review, I'd rather not put up a review at all!
You see, I don't want you lot to know about this place. I want it to be available to me. Only me. Exclusively. Whenever I want. There. I've said it.

I'll be staying there again.
Oh, and again.

P.S. I have it on the very best authority, that when God needs a break now and then, (and he DOES need a break now and then), he nips off to Hazel Manor for a bit of peace and quiet!
(He can't get Janet's breakfasts up in heaven you see....)
