“Good Hotel”
Reviewed 16 October 2012

We stayed in this hotel for a 1 night stay, on arrival the staff were very helpful and although we were early the room was ready and we checked in straight away. The room was very spacious and was very clean, and of a good standard. The bathroom was modern and had good quality complimentary toiletries. The breakfast choice was excellent and was presented to a high standard with great service. There is a hotel pub which has a good choice of beers and ales and although we did not eat here the food looked excellent. This hotel is traditional, clean and is in a fantastic location for a visit to Harrogate.

Although I've give an 'average' overall rating, it's not a bad hotel. Our room was clean and comfortable - perhaps a little small, but then it was not very expensive either, (I rang and booked rather than use any website and found it £20 per night less). Breakfast was a little fraught on our second day as everybody seemed to turn up at the same time.

The hotel restaurant is very good. We had one evening meal there.

The hotel is very well situated near the centre of Harrogate. Betty's Tea shop is only 5 minutes walk as are some really good restaurants. Valley Gardens is just round the corner and that's worth a look on a nice day.

Room Tip: Try and stay at the front of the hotel, I did, but there are other reviews of the hotel which infer...

The White Hart hotel is located in the Montpelier quarter of Harrogate, a few minutes' walk from the International Conference Centre, the Theatre and Betty's. Not all rooms have lovely views out over The Stray but our room (at the side of the hotel) was double-glazed and quiet.
The bathroom was seriously fitted with mobility aids including drop down rails either side of the loo, so no problems for the less mobile.
Furniture was nice inc good digital TV and tea-making.
The staff were all friendly, and the Brasserie and the Bar were both well-appointed. The hot English breakfast is cooked to order with a buffer for starters.
There is a car park to the rear, and it was £2 to get out (no time limits) using a token, although the spaces are quite tight so don't bring a massive car (if you do, try the upper level of the 2-level car park first)
One minor problem was that our bathroom had its own fan heater which cut out after about 30 seconds and was not user-adjustable. When reported, though, the staff promised they would attend to it.
Overall, this is a decent, well-priced hotel with lots of restaurants close-by and near to all the main areas of Harrogate.

We booked a familiy room for three adults and were given a large space at the top of the hotel. There was a very spacious double room with a twin bedded room leading off it and a large bathroom, the furnishings could have done with a bit of updating and it wasn't exactly elegant, but there was a nice view over roof tops and trees and, being at the top of the building, it was very quiet. Breakfast was very generous, with a good selection to be ordered freshly cooked. The bar is large and very popular.

We have only recently discovered this hotel when looking for somewhere to have dinner. We did not stay at the hotel and so can't comment on the accommodation. However, we were pleasantly surprised by the restaurant, which is at the front of the hotel and adjoining the Badger, which is the pub part of the hotel. The latter is rather loud and lively and not what we were looking for. Whereas the restaurant could not be more different being far more relaxing and conducive to eating a meal. The decor is fresh and light and nicely done. It looks quite newly refurbished. The service was good and the food was excellent with a good choice of dishes. Prices were average. We had an enjoyable meal and will probably go again when we are next in Harrogate.

Stayed in Harrogate last year and loved it so returned this September to a different hotel with a deal. What a find,,The White Hart is impressive from the outside, situated just off the green in the centre of town.and our room was excellent, my wife tells me regency style.all I know it was stylish.
The staff were great, the Fat Badger, the pub which is part of it,was great, the dining room restful and the breakfast very nice.
Its a short walk to the shops including Betty's a must visit, and here alcohol takes over, around the corner is the best Weatherspoons pub I have ever been in,incredible architecture.
